Medal "For Military Valor". Military Combat Brotherhood

The Soviet and Russian armies were compelled to take part in large and small fighting conflicts. Warriors who distinguished themselves in battles were constantly rewarded, but some of the orders lost their relevance over time. This was mainly for political reasons.

Medal "For military valor"

The importance of introducing such an award in the list of state orders was understood by the military already in the early 1990s. Specialists made a proposal to review the list of medals and orders to the RF Ministry of Defense, there appeared thematic articles in military journals, for example, in the "Army." Reform of the award system was planned to be held even before the collapse of the USSR. It goes without saying that the process could not be fast. The disappearance of the Soviet Union put other problems at the forefront.

The medal "For Military Valor" all the same officially appeared. It was registered in 2000. Unfortunately, today it is not a state award. Veterans of hostilities are probably aware of the public organization "Combat Brotherhood". It was she who instituted this important award, which sooner or later will gain state status.

How to get a reward?

So, in 2000 there was a significant event for the Russian army - a medal "For military valor" was established. What is awarded for such a distinction? Along with the registration of the award in the state bodies, the Regulations on awarding were adopted. Becoming the owner of such a serious medal can only be a warrior who has committed a really serious act, seriously distinguishing himself in military operations or other difficult situations connected with the risk to life. The Regulations say that this medal is worthy:

- officers, warrant officers and servicemen of other ranks who undergo urgent and contract service in the ranks of the Russian army;

- officers of the Red Army, KGB troops, dismissed;

- Reserve officers of the Russian army.

Of course, the medal was not awarded for nothing. The officer must commit a heroic deed. Of course, soldiers can save people who are in distress, but they can not count on this award, since there is an important point: the medal "For military valor" is awarded only to persons who have the status of a combatant.

What does the medal look like?

Military traditions in high-quality and strong armies are always passed down from generation to generation, respected and respected. In its design, the award "For Military Valor" is similar to the Soviet decoration "For Military Merit". All the same round shape with a diameter of 32 millimeters. The shoe, like the Soviet predecessor, is pentagonal.

On both sides of the coin, we can find different images. On one side the Kalashnikov assault rifle is depicted as the military symbol of most of the local clashes of recent decades, under which is inscribed: "Homeland honor and courage." The other side of the award is no less original. The designers drew a five-pointed star with a symbolic inscription: "For Military Valor." Also here we see the usual saber of the Russian Tsarist cavalry and Mosin's rifle, which was used in the first half of the 20th century.

A certificate for the medal "For Military Valor" is issued to each awardee with the signature of the president of the "Combat Brotherhood" society - former Defense Minister Boris Gromov.
