Cape Crochet: application, diagrams and description

The generalized term "cloak" can be called a kind of clothing that does not have sleeves and has a characteristic free cut. Cloaks are ponchos, pelerines and their varieties.

Types of capes

The crocheted cap can be dense and warm or vice versa, delicate and decorative. The beauty of this type of clothing is that almost any woman can find a suitable model for herself.

Covers are popular because they allow you to hide unwanted elements of the silhouette. For example, a long model, reaching the waist, reliably disguises the tummy and sides. At the same time, lace elegant dresses, crocheted, decorate evening dresses and help to cover the open shoulders or décolleté.

So, based on the methods of knitting and appearance, the cloaks can be:

  • Bound continuous canvas.
  • Composed of separately related fragments.

And:

  • Round.
  • Semicircular.
  • Rectangular.
  • In the form of a bell.

Round capes

Such products are very interesting to look at. In addition, it is extremely interesting to knit. The photo shows an example of a round cape.

Most likely, the basis for her scheme was a napkin or a tablecloth. Typically, such products have a basic decorative element in the center, which is located on the back. At a certain stage, care should be taken of armholes. For this purpose it is necessary to measure the width of the back and check with the knitted cloth. When the circle is equal to the width of the back, holes are formed along the edges of the web with the help of chains of air loops (VP).

In ready-made form, such a crochet looks like a jacket or cardigan with a collar. If necessary, it can be used as a shawl.

Cape in the form of a semicircle

This kind of knitted capes is among the most popular. They can also be based on napkin patterns or simply large openwork fragments. The example below shows a cape tied in the form of a triangle. Obviously, this is a modification of a rectangular fragment.

It can still be attributed to semicircular, since the principle of expanding the circular web is preserved. A feature of this product can be called the use of a thick thread in combination with an openwork pattern. The texture of the mating is very clearly visible and all the elements look attractive.

This crochet knitting crochet implies the presence of a center near the neck and a gradual expansion of the canvas. Semicircular cloaks can be made of two parts (as in the photo) or one circular cloth, the first row of which is the neck.

An openwork cape with a pattern of pineapples

A variation of the semicircular is the following cape crochet (the diagrams are presented in the photo). This remarkable model very successfully combines classic "pineapples" with delicate "fans". After studying the images, it becomes clear that the development of the model of pelerine was based on a circular napkin pattern.

Modification of some elements and proportions, as well as shifting the emphasis on "fans" allows the cloak to be airy and very unusual. Crochet crochet (schemes are given both before and after the improvement) is carried out according to the scheme below.

Rows in the pattern are few, so the yarn is chosen rather dense.

Rectangular Cape

As the name implies, this crochet has the shape of a rectangle or square. It is knit in the form of an even strip with holes for hands. Sometimes it looks like two stitched rectangles.

The scheme for knitting such capes can be used almost any. It can be both simple even patterns, and intricate multi-row ornaments. The picture below shows a rectangular cape, for the compilation of which was associated three equal squares. The patches are formed by unshielded patches in the seams between the squares.

Bell-shaped pellettes

The specific shape of this kind of cape allows you to throw them on your shoulders and not worry that they will unbutton, crawl or the wind will scatter them. Belltail dancers do not have buckles and sleeves. However, if such a crochet crocheted is long (up to the waist and longer), then it is necessary to supply it with vertical slots for the hands.

From the photographs you can see that the bell-bellows are knitted in circular rows. Depending on the purpose of the cape, it can be bound by a solid dense pattern, equipped with a warm collar or light and delicate.

Such a cape crochet (the schemes are suggested in the photo) expands according to the skirt-sun principle. It is very spacious and designed for comfort.

The next cape has a more decorative purpose.

It expands quite a bit and looks more like a smooth canvas-pipe. This cape is perfect for gala meetings. However, if you tie it from light cotton, it will be an indispensable addition to summer sundresses, helping to keep warm in the cool evenings.

Very nice look such cloaks, connected from angora (rabbit fluff) or from mohair (soft wool of goats and sheep with long nap). They can be knit as a dense, and openwork pattern, they will be equally warm.

Which pattern to choose

When deciding which scheme to use to make the cape, it is worthwhile to think about the future of the product and calculate its capabilities. Knitting of a flat fabric is much easier than circular expansion or creation of a product from fragments. Of course, there are restrictions on the choice of variations of the ornament and the cloak model. But, at the same time, a simple pattern will avoid difficulties and quickly finish crochet capes. Schemes of modern continuous patterns are very diverse and interesting.

On the other hand, lace and complex ornaments are always popular, and a new challenging task is a challenge for a gambler.
