Bi-xenon lens: installation and connection by own hands

Unfortunately, not all cars and SUVs are equipped with safe and at the same time "far-sighted" optics. Often even on expensive foreign cars there is a significant lack of light. With the development of technology, this problem has become quite solvable - instead of the usual halogen lamps, xenon is installed in the headlights. And you can do it yourself, without using special tools. In today's article, we'll look at how to install bi-xenon lenses with your own hands and what tools are required for this.

Cooking tools

To install new lenses in the headlights we need a minimum set of materials and tools. In the course of the work, the head will be used with a rattle of 10 millimeters, a cross and two minus screwdrivers, a scissors, a marker, a hair dryer, nippers, a soldering iron and round pliers. Having this set of tools with you , you can safely proceed with the installation of such a detail as a bi-xenon lens.

Installing Xenon in the car

Before performing the work, we will briefly discuss the design of this equipment. A consists of a bi-xenon lamp from the module, which contains a curtain with a switching mechanism for the far and passing beam, a reflector, a light fitting and the lens itself. This optics is installed in the standard reflector of the machine. At the same time, you still have the possibility of adjusting the light, both in manual and in automatic mode (if this is provided by the design of the car). The optics are connected to the 12 volt network via a special ignition module. It seems that everything is simple. So, let's start the installation.

What do I need to do?

To begin with, you need to dismantle a full-time block headlamp and place it on some level surface (for example, on a table). Then remove the covers from the rear wall of the optics. To do this, rotate them counter-clockwise.

After we have access to the lamps, you need to pull the plug yourself. Remember that on most cars, the dipped-head plug is green and the far-end blue.

How to remove a lamp? To do this, push the dipped beam lock down and then push it slightly to the side. The item rises up and a lamp is removed from the unit. The far-end element is removed in the same way. The cartridge of the envelope is pulled out from the seat without any complicated manipulations.

Using a Phillips screwdriver, you need to remove the latch together with the latch and cap. Marker notes the direction and place of the clip on the body of optics. The same part is extracted with a minus screwdriver.

Now take a clean and dry rag and wipe the headlight from dust. Especially carefully walk through its contours: it is here that most of the dirt is hidden. After we divide the glass case of the block-headlight with the mask. Be careful: these two elements are glued together with a special chemical substance, which becomes liquid at high temperatures, and at low temperatures it becomes dense.

Next, heat the headlamp on the burner (with the observance of all safety standards) or on the battery, then use a minus screwdriver to separate the two halves of the part. It is better to start from a narrow angle, that is, where the turn signal is located. At the same time, you need to remove the plastic latches.

One part of the headlamp (body with filling and reflector) we put in one direction, and the second (glass with mask) - in the other.

Biksenonovaya lens - self-installation in the car

Now we pick bi-xenon optics. First we mount the LED dimensions inside the lens (we need a 100-110 centimeter long LED strip for this). We clean the wires and attach a 40-watt soldering iron to the tape. When the place of soldering cools, it should be treated with a cloth (and preferably with a cotton swab), previously moistened with alcohol. Then heat the tape and glue it inside the lens. How is the bi-xenon lens further mounted? Its installation should be carried out in a certain sequence. The chain comes out approximately as follows: mask - lens - silicone gasket - reflector - washer H7-nut-frame fastening device on screws - latch.

The second part is inserted into the reflector, and the wires from the curtain and the dimensions are carried through the hole of the standard ones. A washer is inserted from the inside, and the whole structure is clamped with a nut.

But on this installation of bi-xenon lenses does not end. Now mount the lamp mount frame. It rests on three screws. Then the xenon frame is inserted and fixed in place.

The problem with wires

It remains for the wires. They need to be treated with extreme caution. How is bi-xenon lens connected? As a rule, four wires pass from the xenon set. Two of them go from the ignition block to the lamp, and the other two come from the headlamp for that same unit. The power wires (black and red) are connected to the plug. The latter was mounted on the factory optics on the dipped beam. The black wire of the unit is connected to black on the headlight (minus), and the red wire to green (plus).

How is the bi-xenon lens connected? Installation of wires to the LED strip is carried out with the same polarity. "Plus" in this case is a blue wire, and "minus" is a black wire.

We connect the curtains of the lens (far / low beam). Here we proceed similarly to the first case. Black (negative wire - near illumination) is connected to black, red (plus - high beam) - respectively, to red.

In the cover of the passing beam, drill a 28 mm hole. You need to do this with a special cutter. If you do not have one, you can measure all the parameters with a caliper, draw a circle of the right size and make a hole with a soldering iron. Extra pieces and burrs are removed with a stationery knife.

We install bi-xenon lenses - the final stage

Now go to the final stage - the assembly of a new headlight. At this point it should be closed with a cover and connected to the wires. To re-glue the two halves of the optics, with the help of a hair dryer, heat the headlight part and, if necessary, return the correct shape to the body with round-nosed pliers.

When the substance is almost liquid, glue the halves of the optics along the contour in the reverse order. Then fix in several places with their clips. Everything, our headlight is assembled.

Installation of ignition units

But that is not all. We are faced with the task of installing ignition units. With their screws and drill screws, we screw it to the power structure of the machine through the noise isolating spacer and the brackets. To prevent damage to the electronics contacts, the plugs must be pointed straight down. Everything, at this stage installation of bi-xenon lenses in the headlights was successfully completed. Likewise, the optics are installed and with the second half of the headlamp.

Conclusion

So, we found out how to properly install bi-xenon lenses in a car with your own hands. Finally, we note that all electrical connections made by you must be qualitatively isolated. Otherwise, the risk of a short circuit when moisture gets on the wire increases tens of times - then the bi-xenon lens will not work exactly.

Installing xenon in the headlights, as you can see, this is a completely solvable task, which every motorist can handle.
