But her role as an actress sees in the art of reincarnation, for the role of Fanny Bryce in the film "Funny Girl" by Wyler Barbara Streisand, whose filmography actually began with this remarkable musical, received her first Oscar in 1968. Exactly eight years later, the actress was awarded the second "Oscar" in the nomination "Best Original Song". Evergreen's composition in the performance of Streisand sounded in the film "The Birth of a Star" in 1976.

"Golden Globe", "Grammy" and "Emmy"

Actress Barbara Streisand has repeatedly won other prestigious awards. Her artistry was marked by the Emmy award, which is the television equivalent of the Oscar. Thanks to her excellent vocal performance, Barbara received the Grammy Award from the American Academy of Sound Recording. The associate award "Golden Globe" for the best musical roles in the movie also went to the actress. In addition to these awards, Barbara Streisand was voted by the Billboard weekly as a singer who headed the ratings in 1960, 1970, 1980, 1990 and 2000. This is a kind of record that no one has been able to cover up to now. The figure of sales of records of the singer all over the world exceeds 145 million copies.

Carier start

The career of Barbara Streisand began when the girl was just 17 years old. She tried to participate in all musical competitions, and in one of them she managed to win. This victory opened the young singer's way to one of the nightclubs in New York, where you could already make a living. But the future Hollywood star wanted to play on stage and act in films. Barbara began to participate in theatrical productions, where she tried to show her musical abilities. In one of the productions she met with the famous actress Joan Rivers, the girls became friends and together they began to win theatrical Olympus. However, soon, Streisand was invited to sing in one of the popular bars in Manhattan, where after a while she became a participant of a night show, and then a leading singer in musical productions.

First successes

In 1962, Barbara Streisand, whose filmography was waiting for replenishment, was invited to a small role in the Broadway film-musical "I'll get you that in bulk", which made the singer famous. From now on, the twenty-year-old actress could choose from the many proposals coming from the directors of musical performances on Broadway. Soon, Barbara received a letter from the office of Columbia Records, a well-known recording studio, in which she was asked to sign a record deal. The contract was signed, and work began on recording songs in the solo performance of singer Barbara Streisand. Then followed by an invitation from the directorate of the Ed Sullivan Show, successfully performing on Broadway. So the singer got acquainted with the pianist Vladzy Valentino Liberace. Soon he offered Barbara cooperation, and they began to perform a duet in Las Vegas. A year later, the first album of the singer was released under the discreet title The Barbra Streisand Album, which, however, won two Grammy awards. Barbara quickly became popular, and three subsequent albums were already on the Billboard list.

Solo albums

Over 60 albums were recorded during the period of Barbara Streisand's musical career. Almost all of them are released under the Columbia Records brand. The early works of the singer are included in The Second Barbra Streisand Album, The Third Album and My Name Is Barbra. Yes, that's right, Barbra, not Barbara. At the beginning of her creative activity the singer slightly changed her name. Thus, on all public pages, plates, discs and in commercials, Barbara Streisand is represented by the name of Barbra Streisand. Her best-known song is Happy Days Are Here Again, first recorded in the Judy Garland Show. The success of the single allowed Streisand to open his own project My Name Is Barbra on CBS, the American radio network Columdia Broadcasting System.

Streisand and Sinatra

Since 1969 in the repertoire of the singer began to appear compositions in the style of "Ror", although a full transition to the new format did not happen. Barbara Streisand, whose photo had already begun appearing in magazines that preached pop music, remained true to herself, and her songs only touched lightly on modern currents that did not require deep vocal abilities. The album Stoney End, released in 1971, immediately took one of the top lines of the charts, and the self-titled track became a super hit. In the seventies, Barbara Streisand's songs invariably became hits, such as Woman In Love, Evergreen, No More Tears, The Way We Were, and they were included in films with her participation. Many years later, in 1982, music critic Stephen Holden wrote that Barbara Streisand is an unbeaten performer ahead of Frank Sinatra. Given the popularity and the highest rating of the American singer Sinatra, we can assume what heights were reached by Streisand.

First tours

The year of 1985 was marked by the return of Barbara to the theatrical and musical repertoire with the album The Broadway Album, which became the first platinum record in the singer's collection. The album at that took the leading position on the Billboard chart for three weeks, was recognized as the Album of the Year, and for it Barbara received her eighth Grammy figurine as the best performer. Six years later the collection of the singer Just The Record, consisting of four CDs, gathered all the main hits of the creative path of the great singer. They numbered over seventy. In the same period, Streisand pondered the emerging new kind of creativity - touring. Despite the publicity, the singer was afraid of the audience in the audience. Nevertheless, in September 1993, the first concert of Barbara Streisand was announced.

Farewell Concert

In 1999, Streisand published a decision to complete her creative career. The farewell concert took place in Las Vegas. There were no more performances of Barbara. In the memory of the general public there were films with Barbara Streisand. She continued to release her solo albums, one of them, Christmas Memories, became a dedication to the victims of the 2001 tragedy that occurred in New York, when terrorists destroyed two skyscrapers with people. Two years later the album The Movie Album was released with songs from the films arranged for a symphony orchestra.

Roles in the cinema

With the musical career of the singer, her work in the field of cinema was closely intertwined. This has been happening for almost thirty years. Barbara Streisand, whose filmography did not have many roles, began to appear more often. The most active period of her participation in filming was in the seventies, when the actress starred in the films "What's up, doc?", "All for Pete's sake" and "Meeting the Two Hearts" (working together with Robert Redford). However, in 1981, the movie "All Night Away" appeared on the screens, which failed miserably. After such a fiasco, Barbara Streisand, whose films were usually well received by the public, somewhat withdrew from participating in film projects. And yet the time passed, the vocation of the actress, the status of the movie star, the love of the cinema took its toll, and Barbara gradually coped with the disappointment that had come upon her after the failure of the movie All Through The Night. Besides being a creative person, she decided to try out other roles existing in the cinema, - producing film projects and directing.

Barbara Streisand, Director and Producer

And two years later, Barbara returned to the movies, but already as a producer of films shot on the subjects of Broadway musicals with her participation. Films featuring Barbara Streisand, filmed in the past, gave way to new pictures in which the actress has already performed not only in the role of the performer of the main roles. While creating the film "Yentl", the actress wrote the script, played the main role, coped with the difficult work of the director and took over the duties of the producer. In fact, the film became her author's work. In the same format was filmed the movie "Lord of the tides." Both films received high praise from critics, and the famous director Steven Spielberg called the painting "Yentl" a masterpiece. Movies with Barbara Streisand are still watched by millions of viewers around the world.
