Are diseases of tomatoes terrible in a greenhouse?

To use tomatoes as early as possible, many use greenhouses. But this method requires tremendous efforts and is associated with greater risks. After all, it is necessary not only to properly build a greenhouse, pick up a soil, disinfect it in time, but also to monitor the temperature of the air, humidity, and regularly ventilate the building. In addition, you need to carefully monitor the tomatoes from the moment of the first shoots. It is important to identify the disease of tomatoes in the greenhouse and begin treatment as early as possible. This is one of the main conditions for caring for these vegetables.

In order to increase the yield and prevent the emergence of diseases and pests of tomatoes, it is important not to forget about culturology. It is not necessary to plant tomatoes in the same place for several years. Change them in places with cucumbers, peppers or other vegetables. After the harvest is over, remove all the plants from the greenhouse and replace the top layer of the soil. All wooden elements, film and glass must be disinfected with lime and copper sulfate. This will help prevent many diseases of tomatoes in the greenhouse.

One of the most common problems is the infection of tomatoes with such a viral disease as a mosaic. On leaves, pale green spots alternate with healthy areas. Another common problem is a strick disease. It appears as strips and spots on fruits, stems, shoots. On tomatoes are visible keratinized areas of irregular shape, and the flesh inside such fruits is brown, they are unevenly colored. These diseases of tomatoes in the greenhouse develop very rapidly in cool and cloudy weather, but they can be prevented if you alternate the planting sites, take seeds only from the healthy plants known to you and disinfect them with the help of potassium permanganate before planting. It's also good to cover them with a film to avoid the transmission of the virus inside the greenhouse.

At a high humidity and a temperature of about 25 ° C, cladosporium can develop (it is also known as a brown spot). This fungal disease affects first the lower leaves, then spreads upwards, transforms into fruits. As a result, tomatoes wrinkle and fall off. Also, high humidity and temperature contribute to the appearance of chlorosis-fusarium wilt. It, as a rule, is manifested in the period of fruiting. Warn such diseases of tomatoes in the greenhouse, if you monitor the humidity, water the plants only in the morning and remove any damaged shoots or even bushes.

In greenhouses, it is often possible to encounter diseases such as southern blight and gray rot. They are the cause of the appearance on the fruit of brown wet spots. Also on infected tomatoes can be a gray mold coating. It is clear that such vegetables are no longer suitable for eating.

If you notice that there is something wrong with your seedling or fruits, then it is better to look at the tomato disease pictures in the greenhouse. The photos of affected plants and fruits will allow you to more accurately identify the disease and decide on further actions. However, not always beginning farmers can cope with this task independently. But it will not be difficult for you if you grow tomatoes for many years. Diseases, whose treatment for a specialist is not a problem, will recede. It will be enough just to inspect the plants in order to assess the scale of the problem and talk about methods of prevention and control of the disease.
