Apoplexy of the right ovary: clinical picture, causes and methods of treatment

Apoplexy (rupture) of the ovary is a hemorrhage that results from the rupture of the follicular cyst of the ovary, the yellow body or the connective tissue.

As a rule, apoplexy of the right ovary, just like the left one, occurs in women about 40 years of age and older. Doctors distinguish the so-called "critical points", in the presence of which most often this gap occurs. As a rule, apoplexy happens in the second phase of the menstrual cycle. This is because during ovulation and before menstruation, the blood vessels of the ovary tissues are most permeable.

Apoplexy of the left ovary occurs about 3 times less frequently than the right one. This is due to the fact that the right ovary has a more active blood circulation due to the fact that its artery is moving away from the aorta. In the left blood comes from the renal artery.

There are several main reasons that cause the development of this pathology:

- inflammatory processes localized in the pelvic organs and causing the development of tissue pathology (eg, sclerosis of connective tissue) and vascular changes (sclerotic and dystrophic);

Varicose veins;

- Blood diseases;

- long-term use of drugs that worsen blood coagulability.

These diseases are conditions in which the apoplexy of the right ovary can develop. There are also external and internal factors contributing to this outcome. The first group includes:

- injuries of the abdominal cavity,

- strong physical stress,

Non-standard sexual intercourse.

Internal causes include pathologies of the uterus, which cause disorders of the usual blood flow, an ovarian tumor that presses on it, adhesions in the pelvic region. Sometimes apoplexy of the right ovary can occur even during a night's sleep or just rest, without any objective basis.

Doctors are inclined to the fact that this pathology is caused most often by hormonal failures. Then there are violations of the central nervous system, various kinds of stressful situations and environmental conditions.

As a rule, apoplexy of the right ovary is characterized, first of all, by painful symptoms, which begin to manifest in the lower part of the abdominal cavity. The reason for this is irritation of the receptor tissue, bleeding and spasms. As the accompanying signs called dizziness, nausea, vomiting and fainting, the manifestation of which depends on the level of blood loss.

Typically, pain occurs if the hemorrhage is in the tissue of the follicle or the yellow body.

Ovarian apoplexy, the consequences and treatment of which depends on the severity of the disease, can be eliminated either by conservative or operational methods.

If conservative treatment is prescribed (which occurs in case of small blood loss), then it implies the imposition of ice compresses on the lower abdomen, the patient's peace, physiotherapy, the use of medications that help stop the bleeding, and vitamins. This form of treatment is used only if there is a slight form of apoplexy. Most often, however, surgical intervention is prescribed, which accurately allows you to diagnose the degree of complication of the disease and correct its course as accurately as possible.

If the pain does not stop, and the condition worsens (tests show an increase in bleeding, unstable blood flow), a surgical intervention (laparoscopy or laparotomy) is prescribed.

The life and health of the patient directly depends on how quickly the diagnosis is made and the necessary adequate treatment is prescribed.
