A tick is found on the human body. What to do?

If after a walk through the forest a tick was found on the body of a person, it's an urgent reason to see a doctor. After all, as you know, people can get Lyme disease after a bite of an infected tick or catch encephalitis. Adults Mites climb the tops of grasses and shrubs, where they are clinging to mammals, both large animals and man. When an unsuspecting person touches the tall grass or leaves, the mite clings to the clothes, crawls over to the skin or scalp and starts to bite the "master."

The mites do not bite fast, like mosquitoes, for example. Instead, the insect needs to examine the surface of the skin, after which it crashes into it within 10-60 minutes. After the skin is cut, the mite immerses the head in it, and the feet and the body leave the surface to freely feed on the blood. Thus, the tick can stay on the skin for up to several days. It is worth considering that the smaller the insect, the weaker it stays on the body and the less damage it causes with its bite. But an adult can even penetrate the skin, which makes its removal very problematic. It is extremely important to remove the tick during the first 48 hours. Ticks can attach to any part of the body, but especially they are attracted by warm wet places: axillary cavities, navel, back part of the knees, ears, neck, groin area and so on. This is how the tick looks on the human body (photo above). A person may not notice the tick bite, since it is practically painless, so it is extremely important after each visit to the forest to inspect The body for the presence of these insects.

If a tick is found on the human body, it should be removed immediately. If you can not get to the clinic, use a thin tweezers. It is necessary to take the tick as close as possible to the skin. If there are no tweezers, you can use a thread, making a loop out of it and throwing it on the mite. Tighten the loop, twist the insect in a circle, as if turning out of the skin. Another way is to remove the mite with the help of fat cream or petroleum jelly. You need to lubricate the area around the insect, turn it over the backrest and sharply pull it. Oral opening of the tick will be clogged with fat, and it will temporarily weaken its grip. Check that the mite has been removed completely, sometimes inside its head may remain, which will inevitably cause inflammation and infection. The area where the insect was attached, disinfect with alcohol or other means. Place the extracted mite in a plastic bag and as soon as possible, deliver it to the laboratory for examination for the causative agents of encephalitis and Lyme disease.

There is not one kind of ticks. On the human body can meet any. In this case the doctor usually obligatorily appoints a course of antibiotics, for example doxycycline. Most bites, fortunately, do not lead to infection, but a characteristic rash may appear on the patient's skin. Thus, a tick on the human body is an unpleasant, but not a deadly, nuisance that can happen to you during a walk in the forest.
