Animals of the Moscow Zoo: numbers, names, photos

In the center of the capital is a huge and oldest in Russia zoo, which covers an area of more than 21 hectares and is divided into two territories - the old and the new.

Predators

Carnivorous animals of the Moscow Zoo are kept in specially equipped enclosures, maximally imitating the natural environment of their habitat. Visitors can easily observe the daily life of animals. Gray wolves - male and female - have been living since 2013 and are kept in an enclosure that is located opposite the "Circle of riding".

Asian jackal (female) has been living since 2015.

Wolverine - male and female - live in an enclosure in a new territory separately.

Raccoon dog - is contained in the old territory in a decorative enclosure.

Jaguarundi (family of felines) - the couple lives in the old territory.

Steppe cat (Indian subspecies) - two females live in a separate enclosure on the territory of the zoo, and at night they are allowed to walk in enclosed nursery premises.

The polar wolf is a male and a female.

The otter is ordinary - the animals live and reproduce in the triple basin.

Puma (family of felines, mammals of America) - a large male can be seen in the cat series.

Skunk striped - in winter lives next to the tapir, and in the summer with a giraffe and donkeys (prianal glands removed).

The Himalayan bear is contained in a bear aviary of logs.

Surikat - live in the zoo since 2009, in the pavilion "Ungulates of Africa".

Red-headed lynx - the female has been living next to European trot for more than 20 years.

Striped hyena - is under threat of extinction, the male is on the site of the young.

Arctic fox is located on the corner of the "Cat series" (old territory), between the puma and the red wolves.

Red fox - several individuals live on the old territory in the cage, next to the fence and the "Japanese Corner".

Manuly - are in the exposition between spectacled bears and cats of the tropics.

Kinkaju is a species on the verge of extinction, the male is in the open-air museum of the Night World exposition.

Raccoon-poloskun - animals live together with raccoon dogs and representatives of the family of dogs in the old territory, behind a complex of marine mammals.
