After the Windows 10 update, the Internet does not work. The Internet stopped working after upgrading Windows 10
To our great regret, the "dozen", despite loud statements, became "revolutionary" completely in the opposite direction, in particular, after the update of Windows 10 the Internet does not work. Such cases are quite common. Let's try to consider several possible causes and methods of eliminating such failures.
The Internet stopped working after the Windows 10 update: variants of crashes
To begin with, the "dozen", although it has quite a lot of innovations and advantages in comparison with the old systems, nevertheless very often contributes to the fact that the settings of the Internet connection simply "fly off". In addition, the automatic installation of device drivers (in our case network) is not its strongest place.
In general, you can consider several options in which problems appear:
- After the upgrade to Windows 10, the Internet does not work;
- Failure occurs after the update of the "dozens" itself;
- The problems are related to the mobile version of Windows 10.
Let's consider each case separately, although the general recommendations for eliminating such problems are, in general, very similar.
After the update of Windows 10 does not work the Internet: the main reasons for computers and laptops
Indeed, in many computer systems, where the seventh and eighth versions were previously used as the "operating system", there are problems with connection after upgrading to "dozens". This mainly applies to cases where a Wi-Fi connection is used, although sometimes you can even see the loss of the network adapter from the "Device Manager". This seems to be related to the drivers, since the most likely situation is when the device manufacturer simply did not release the driver for a non-standard device, designed specifically for Windows 10 (but this is very rare).
No less common problem, when after the upgrade to Windows 10 does not work the Internet via WiFi, is "rally" settings, both in the system and on the router.
Another reason is incompatible with the "ten" programs that are not designed to work in this environment despite all the developers' claims that Windows 10 will support all applications installed in the system earlier. But more on that later.
Finally, if the user sees that after the Windows 10 update the Internet on the phone does not work, the problem is most likely not in the device, namely in the router through which the network is accessed. The only exception is mobile gadgets, on which the tenth mobile version of Windows Phone is installed.
Let's note at once: the problems connected with malfunctioning of cables or restart of computers, laptops, routers, mobile devices or switching off / on the Wi-Fi module will not be considered now.
Problems with drivers
So, let's consider the case with drivers. If the user does not see the wireless adapter in the device list, or the device is marked in yellow, you can try to install the hardware manually.
Let's start with the second option. If there is an installation disc with drivers, everything is simple. Selecting a disabled device in the context menu, you can proceed in two ways: request the driver update automatically from the system database or install drivers from the disk. It is better to choose the second one, because there may not be any drivers in the database. After that, during the update simply specify the path to the folder on the optical media or flash drive, where these drivers are, and install. If the system "spits", it is necessary from the other terminal to search for the latest version of the driver on the Internet, and then install it in manual mode.
If there is no device in the manager, use the new hardware installer. In most cases, the system finds all devices, even those that are disabled in the BIOS. If the equipment is detected, you can use the automatic driver installation. If even a standard driver is installed, for some reason not suitable for the network adapter, at least the device itself should appear in the list. Then proceed as described above.
At the very extreme, if the files of the previous system were not deleted, you can return to it.
Removing Updates
Quite often the problem also arises after the update of the "dozens" itself, although it was initially assumed that new updates for Windows 10 will not be released.
In this case, you first need to try to rollback (restore the system) to the time point when the problem appeared. After that, you can try to disable the update altogether, so that updates can not be installed. On the other hand, it is undesirable to do so. Therefore, it's better to go to the section of the installed updates and try to delete them one by one with subsequent reboot of the terminal after each uninstall.
Once the system is working properly, you need to block the desired update by using the manual search for available updates and unchecking the installation box. After that, you can turn on the automatic update again.
Antivirus and firewall settings
Sometimes after updating Windows 10 the Internet does not work only because of incorrect settings of the firewall and the current update of the anti-virus program modules.
What to do in this situation (there is no Internet)? For starters, you can disable both the firewall and the antivirus scanner, and then look at the health of the system. Sometimes you may need to either update the antivirus software, or simply download the latest version from the Internet using another terminal, then repeat the installation.
Incompatibility of programs
Another reason is that the system is incompatible with the "ten" programs. About applied software it does not go. Most often these are all kinds of optimizers, accelerators, cleaners, etc., which can limit access to the World Wide Web due to emerging conflicts.
As a simple solution, the usual uninstallation of software products of this type is suitable, especially since until recently only a few optimizers have got along with the "ten". Not the fact that outdated software will get accustomed to the new system.
Settings for the router and TCP / IP protocol
Sometimes you have to rebuild and the router. In this case, you need to use the settings provided by the provider, and pay attention to the settings of the region.
Alternatively, you can try to register the IP address manually, for the preferred DNS server, point through the point four eights, and for the alternative - through the point two eights and two quadruples.
Problems with mobile devices
Finally, if the Internet on a mobile device (for example, the Lumia smartphone) does not work after updating Windows 10, where the "ten" is used as the main OS, the cause of the failure may be that, perhaps, the "operating system" itself was not installed correctly, can , An unofficial version of "Windy" was installed, or a normal system was placed over an unofficial firmware. Yes, you never know what.
In this case, it's best to reset to the factory settings when the device was on the previous system, and try to reinstall the "top ten" again, after downloading the distribution from an official source (Upgrade Advisor or Windows Insider application).
If the update was made in automatic mode, you need to check the correctness of the Wi-Fi settings and the correctness of the input of the used Microsoft account. If you use all kinds of mobile optimizers, they are better to remove, and antiviruses - to update or reinstall.
Alternatively, you can change the settings of the proxy port directly on the phone, registering two eights and two sevens through the point, and using the IP address of a computer or laptop on which to connect to the Internet on them. Then in Internet Explorer on the phone in the line enter the IP address with the addition of the port, and then install the certificate.
Now run Windows Insider and install updates, then go back to the Wi-Fi settings and disable the proxy. Again, go to the application and use Insider Fast from the Get Preview Build section. Further we agree with all the conditions, after which a reboot follows. Now it remains only to check the updates in the settings menu, provided the battery charge is not lower than 30%. When the check and installation is over, you can rejoice, there will be no problems.
Epilogue
Here we consider the most common situations associated with the loss of communication after the installation or update of the "dozens." As for mobile gadgets, which use different systems than Windows, the problem is most likely not in the device, but in access through the routers. But, as practice shows and user reviews say, the most likely problem is the situation with the incorrect installation of drivers or the use of their outdated versions that are not designed for the Windows 10 software environment.
