Adobearm.exe: what is this process and why is it needed?

Undoubtedly, many of those people who use programs for reading and editing PDF files have encountered a service that is constantly hanging in the tree of processes running in the background . It is a link to the Adobearm.exe file. What is it, why and why such a service is launched automatically with "operating system", we now will understand. In passing, some recommendations will be given to address the problems associated with this process.

Adobearm.exe: what is this process?

First of all, every user should understand that virtually all commercial products, to which Adobe software also belongs, in the background install their own update tools, in fact, keeping track of the objectivity of any installed product of this company in the system.

Roughly speaking, we have Adobearm.exe service. What it is is not difficult to understand if you take into account the fact that this process is an "updater", that is, a module that keeps track of updates for an Adobe product such as Acrobat Reader or Acrobat Manager. However, as such, the role of the software update tool does not play this role; rather, it is a kind of "reminder" (after all, some sources treat ARM as ALARM, which means "alarm".

Actually, this module works like an "alarm bell" when an update of one or another Adobe product is required.

Is the process associated with Adobe applications?

It should be taken into account that this service does not apply to all products of the developer.

It is most applicable to applications and software packages like Adobe Acrobat (Reader), etc. In other words, it relates to all programs for recognizing text documents with built-in graphics elements. In this case, the appeal is made exclusively on the official resource of the corporation.

The same virtual studio Adobe Audition requires updates only in professional, not in the "cracked" version. Here it is more likely that the components of readers that are able to work with PDF formats are being replaced. Nevertheless, such a process constantly "hanging" in the operational memory causes, to put it mildly, irritation. However, the service itself can not always be associated with Adobe products. Many viruses penetrate the system through masked updates, even if the official client is installed.

Suspicions for viruses

Unfortunately, not a single Windows system is immune from penetration of threats. This file or a malicious program masquerading as an executable process is capable of causing quite serious damage. No, now we are not talking about putting the computer out of action. But the problems with "spyware", "trojans" or "worms" that can steal information or capture computer control in a remote mode, in this case manifest themselves absolutely clearly.

What to do if you notice a suspicious process in the same "Dispatcher"? Yes, just use special tools for scanning a PC. In this case, it is necessary to disable the full-fledged (installed) antivirus, even the developer with the same name, before proceeding to scan.

In utilities like KVRT from Kaspersky Lab, you should use not standard, but in-depth analysis (even a portable program allows you to set such settings).

Adobearm.exe: how to disable the process in the simplest way?

But let's turn to the possibility of directly disabling this service. Naturally, if this is really an official "update", in the settings of a constantly pop-up warning you can use the parameter setting like "Do not remind me anymore" and disable the system altogether.

However, this does not always work. The fact is that in some cases there is an error Adobearm.exe, which the system treats as critical, although, in general, nothing to do with the work of Windows and does not. Most often this may be due to the impact on office applications that are directly related to the PDF format (the same templates or exported Word documents).

On the other hand, if the official update installer is actually running, the problem of the error may be related to the banal reason - the lack of connection or connection to the Internet at some point.

As for disabling, in Windows 10 you can use the same "Task Manager", where in the autoloader this component is selected, and the button located on the lower right is completely disabled.

For systems below "tens" (although for Windows 10 such a solution is applicable), you should use the msconfig command, which is entered in the "Run" menu (Win + R). Again, on the startup tab, you should disable this service.

Install Adobe Product Updates Later

So, we reviewed the process of updating Adobearm.exe. What it is, I think, more or less clear. Now, instead of the afterword, there is one point concerning the update of other installed products.

You can rest assured that any program of this developer has a hidden ability to run online updates. Maybe it is not expressed in the form of a file like Update.exe, but it can be in the autorun mode, say, in terms of the dynamic library used, which has a link to the "update", or as an MSC service. The options can be quite a lot.

But if you disable the main update (or delete it altogether, which is preferable), then you will have to manually update the Adobe products. But here it is worth noting one important fact. Updating the popular Adobe Flash Player plugin will occur regularly, regardless of whether the Adobearm.exe service is started or not.

You can, of course, get into the registry, in the HKLM branch, where you can find the Run directory in the tree, and then disable the startup of all the services associated with this developer. But, I think, this is not the best way to interfere with the operation of the system.
