A teenager is a special system of values

A teenager is not just a word for a teenager of 13-19 years old, it is a whole culture and a system of vital values, inextricably linked with certain problems and social phobias. The term teenager has migrated to us from the English language. The origin of the word is associated with the postfix "teen" in the numerals in the interval from 13 to 19, for example, thirteen, fourteen, etc. Psychologists consider this period in the life of the person to be the most responsible and complex. As a rule, young teenagers are strongly susceptible to various social phobias.

Often they have a "syndrome of imaginary ugliness." At the same time, teenagers, comparing themselves with their idols, find their appearance unconventional, inappropriate to generally accepted ideals and even ugly. Such thoughts often cause them suffering, day by day increasing their conviction of their inferiority. Teenagers are very vulnerable, especially when it comes to their appearance. Skewed glances, whispering, abruptly interrupted conversation ... The teenager takes all this very close to his heart, although he tries not to show his feelings. But at the same time (paradox!) Teenagers are very fond of posing and taking pictures. Photos of teenage girls are the subject of lively discussion for peers.

A teenager is someone who tries a new one and seeks a foothold in life, builds relationships with the opposite sex, his parents and friends. The desire for self-determination of a teenager often leads him to various subcultural trends. He adopts values, attitudes, strives to stand out due to unconventional hairstyles, fashionable clothing and an abundance of cosmetics (for girls).

Teenage currents are inextricably linked with fashion. Particularly vividly different youth groups differentiate among themselves at the expense of clothing: broad trousers and spacious hooded hood-hood culture, black raincoats and heavy paramilitary boots with high lacing for adepts of Gothic style ... In adults, such odious vestments cause perplexity and criticism. Parents now and then teach their growing child, advised to "stop dressing like a clown" and "take on the mind." In turn, the offspring of 14-15 years react aggressively to such criticism and ask the parents "not to go into their lives."

As a rule, teenagers rarely share their problems with adults, opposing themselves to them. They prefer to spend their free time either in the company of their own kind, or alone in their room.

In a more mature - student - stage, teenagers are less likely to be depressed and reclusive. They are open and inquisitive. At the age of 17-19 many new hobbies and acquaintances appear. This is the era of creativity and courageous experiments.

A teenager is a state of mind, and the age range here is very conventional. You can behave this way in 11 and 20 years. In spite of everything, this is a wonderful stage in a person's life: that's when the first love comes, new friends appear that will remain for many years, the life ideals and aspirations of young people are formed. Do not avoid all problems, because their decision is an important step on the way to growing up and becoming a person. Everyone must go this way. Parents make the mistake of rudely interfering in the life of the child at this stage of his development. If they want to maintain good relations with him, then all they can do is be a friend and adviser, but not a boss or commander.
