A sample of the handout to the thesis. Requirements for the handout material

In this article, we will describe the sample handout to the thesis work, tell you about the rules for its design, list the documents that should be included in it.

To begin with, there is little to write a diploma project, usually this process is accompanied by a whole list of works. Handouts for the thesis work, the sample of which we will consider, is a very important element for the protection of the project. Please note that it must be orderly, properly designed and include material, links to which must be present in the student's speech.

Why do I need a handout?

As already mentioned, the handout is simply necessary for the successful defense of the thesis project. Now we will talk in more detail about why it is needed and what role it plays. Handouts should:

  • To reflect some of the conclusions that you made in the course of your research;
  • Demonstrate knowledge in this field;
  • Distract the commission illustrations from the shortcomings in the design of the work.

The student is given about 15 minutes for the report. In such a short time it is necessary to try to maximally convey the essence of their work, which is set out on 70 or even 150 pages. Demo materials can help with this task . Well-designed material is the key to success in the defense of the thesis. Now we will talk in more detail about what should be included in the demonstration material and the rules for its design.

What should I include?

Above is the title page of the sample handout for the thesis. The structure of the material also includes:

  • annotation;
  • Table, which briefly reflects the main information on the topic of your thesis project;
  • Schemes or graphs;
  • Illustrations that help strengthen some conclusions;
  • If the subject of the thesis is related to research, for example excavations or geological research, then you need to put photos that you personally made in the course of the work;
  • Quotes from work.

Design rules

Now we will talk about how to make a handout to a diploma. Do not include in it absolutely all tables, drawings, graphics and other illustrations (since there may be more than a hundred of them). Select only the most important ones, which most fully reflect the essence of your thesis work.

Handouts should be placed in a separate folder, the number of sheets in which should not exceed fifteen. All pages should be numbered. Only the title page is not numbered. The sequence should be as follows:

  1. Title page.
  2. Annotation.
  3. The content of the work.
  4. Sheet 3.
  5. Sheet 4 and so on.

In addition to the title page, annotations and content, you must place at least six sheets of charts, tables and drawings. As a rule, the number of members of the commission is known in advance. Please note that the number of copies of the handout must match it.

Requirements for the handout material

Handouts for the thesis must meet certain requirements. First of all, of course, the content should reflect the topic of the report. If you include images in the handout, then they should be of high quality. Members of the commission should understand that they illustrate the pictures. The text should be structured, broken into paragraphs.

Take this work responsibly. A well-written handout will make it clear to the members of the commission that you wrote your work independently and thoroughly studied the topic. Remember that you should not overload members of the commission with information and handouts. Everything should be clear and concise.

Sample

Now we will analyze the sample of the handout to the thesis. The title page should contain the following information:

  1. Name of the university.
  2. The name of the department.
  3. Title of the document.
  4. Theme of the thesis.
  5. The author's name.
  6. Name of the thesis supervisor.
  7. City and year.

Do not put signatures and numberings on the title page. Then, if you want, you can insert an annotation and a table of contents for your work. Only after them it is possible to place auxiliary materials (diagrams, tables, figures, graphics, etc.). At the top it is necessary to put the numbering "Sheet 1", "Sheet 2" and so on. In the center of the sheet, place the material of one application and sign it below. This should look, for example, like this:
