Raglan knitting: men's wool sweater

Raglan knitting differs from the performance of most knitwear items in that the work in this case is done from the top down. All details of the sweater knit to the end of the armhole with the chosen pattern, and the collar, cuffs and lower edge can be made with an elastic band or garter stitch. The jumper from a melange thread will look elegant and original even when knitting with a facial smoothness.

Man's sweater-raglan

For work you will need:

- knitting needles № 2,5;

- woolen yarn - 500 grams;

- English pins or auxiliary knitting needles;

Long stocking or circular knitting needles greatly facilitate the knitting of raglan, but you can get by with the usual ones that are convenient for you.

Beginning of work

We dial 112 knitting needles and knit a rubber band with a height of 4 centimeters, then distribute the loops as follows: 40 loops at the front and back and 14 on each sleeve. The remaining 4 loops serve for the formation of raglan, which is obtained by means of napkin from both sides of the connecting loop. In total, we perform 8 overlays in each face row.

After the distribution of the loops, we continue the work by tying 40 loops to the face, nakid, 1 faces., Nakid, 14 faces., Nakid, 1 persons., Nakid, 40 back loops, nakid, 1 persons., Nakid. Raglan knitting with the addition of loops is continued until its length reaches 32 centimeters, then the sweater parts are performed separately. We finish work with an elastic band 6-8 centimeters high and close the hinges. In a similar way, we perform the back of the sweater and go on to knitting the sleeves with a stocking surface, reducing the loops on both sides of each 8 row. The length of the sleeve to the cuffs will be approximately 40 cm, we will knit the cuffs with an elastic band for another 6 cm.

The finished product is steam-ironed through a cotton cloth, without affecting the elastic. We connect before and the back, then the seams of the sleeves. Our raglan sweater is ready, but do not rush to hang it on your hangers. If you do not have a special hanger for knitwear, keep the product folded.

Above we have considered the simple knitting of raglan to understand the very principle of its implementation. However, instead of one connecting loop, you can use the fragments of the pattern that the sweater performs. In products with Irish arans, beautiful relief raglan is obtained from any not too wide braid. In this case, the addition of loops can be done to the right and left of the relief by tying the nakids with a crossed loop according to the figure. Two or three connecting loops, tied with facial, can become the highlight of a female cardigan made of shaped yarn.

In those cases where the pattern requires knitting from the bottom up, you can perform raglan in the reverse order. To do this, separately knit all parts of the product, and then connect them. Instead of nakidov in each second row we tie three loops together so that the middle of them lies on top. When the cutout size becomes sufficient, we make out the gate in any convenient way. You can also remove excess loops under a braid or a relief. This method of knitting requires some experience, but it is also uncomplicated, and the result will pleasantly please you.
