Yuganskiy reserve: flora and fauna

The Yugansk Zapovednik has the status of the Federal State Budgetary Institution, subordinate to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation. The decision to establish a nature reserve was signed on May 31, 1982.

General information

The Yugansk reserve is located in the very center of Western Siberia. Surgut district, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug (Yugra), the Great Yugan river basin - its exact address.

The total area of the institution is 648 636 hectares, of which 93 893 ha are included in the special zone. Preservation of the conditions for the existence of the ecosystem, the study of the flow of natural processes and phenomena without the involvement of human influence on them, the development of nature protection measures are the main goals for which the nature reserve "Yuganskiy" was created.

The entire area with the natural objects located on it, as well as the bowels of the earth, are withdrawn from economic use. The rights to their exploitation belong to the reserve. For convenience, the territory is divided into three sections - Neugusyakh, Maloyugansk and Tailakovskiy.

Fauna

One of the main issues that ecologists are worried about today is the conservation of the fauna population. The Yuganskiy Reserve, whose fauna is represented by birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, fish, many invertebrates, has for many years been monitoring the species' ability to adapt to the harsh conditions of existence.

The birds inhabiting the reserve are the most numerous representatives of vertebrates. They number about 216 species. Scientists subdivide birds with special groups:

  • Nesting in the reserve, they are also called migratory;
  • Visiting him during the autumn and spring movements;
  • Wintering.

Some species of birds can appear accidentally on the territory of the reserve. They are classified in a separate group, calling zaletnyh. Scientists also monitor their behavior, their way of life in an unusual climate for them.

The list of mammals includes about 40 species of animals. Common representatives include sable, column, mink, otter, wolverine, badger, ermine, weasel, wolf, fox, bear, elk, reindeer and other animals.

Flora

Plants of the Yuganskiy Reserve are represented by a list that was formed as a result of the research activities of its employees. The main group consists of vascular plants, there are about 330 species in it. A group of lichens, including 195 species, is rich in its representatives. On the territory of the reserve there are about 114 moss species. There is a wide variety of mushrooms. Today, about 200 of them are known, but research works on their identification continue.

Forests occupy most of the territory of the reserve. Their type depends on the combination of tree species that grow in a particular forest. The main ones are birch, aspen, common pine, cedar, fir, Siberian spruce.

A small number of representatives of flora and fauna

The Yuganskiy Reserve is interesting because animals and plants are found on its territory that are not typical for severe climatic conditions. However, species have managed to adapt, they not only survive, but are able to produce offspring in natural conditions.

You can bring a trot to the list. It is very rare. Scientists attribute this to the limited number of hares, which are the main food of the predator, and also the high height of the snow cover.

Bats are the most mysterious and unusual animals found on the reserved territory. Scientists have discovered two of their species - two - colored leather and a northern leather jacket.

In winter, you can meet two species of birds, for which habitual habitat is considered to be the tundra. These include a white owl and a gyrfalcon. A small number of reptiles. There are two species in it - a viviparous lizard and a viper.
Among the representatives of the flora, larch is rarely found. It grows only in certain areas of the reserve on well-drained soils.

Marshes

The Yugansk reserve in its description has an interesting fact - a third part of its territory is made up of swamps. In addition, they are part of Vasyugan, which is recognized as the largest marsh in the world. This feature has always attracted scientists who were able to prove the most important functions of bogs, their influence on many processes occurring in nature.
The southern part of the Yuganskiy reserve is especially rich in marshes. Pine forests are also common here , which have been called ryam communities. This is a transitional form, with signs of forest and swamp. Vegetation ryam variety. This depends on the amount of water that can be retained in the soil and on its surface.

In addition to scientific work, a large ecological and educational activity is conducted in the reserve. The department closely cooperates with the local population, interacts with the media. Produced advertising products also contribute to the education of the population.
