After school, his father entered the military medical academy and received a diploma, became a military doctor. As a result, he had to move from place to place and change garrisons.

Mom of the future prose writer was born in Western Ukraine, where her family lived in those times. Her grandfather was also a doctor. Mother followed in the footsteps of her grandfather, and she graduated from the medical institute in Chernivtsi.

Such facts provide a biography of Weller Michael. The nationality of this man provokes a lot of controversy. Many believe that he is a Jew. But who more thoroughly studied the biography of Weller Michael, he attributes the nationality to a completely different - Russian. It is difficult to answer this question unequivocally.

The first verse experience

Little Misha was only two years old when his father was transferred to the Trans-Baikal Territory. Of course, the family left behind him. By and large, Michael has replaced not one school because of service of the daddy. He roamed with his parents in the garrisons of Siberia and the Far East.

He grew up as a normal Soviet boy. The first work he independently read was Gaidar's Malchish-Kibalchish. Then came the turn of Jules Verne and Herbert Wells. And a little later he began to read out and books of Jack London.

When Misha was in fifth grade, he realized that he wanted to write. During the winter holidays the teacher of literature asked a task - to compose a poem about winter. According to Weller's memoirs, he wrote an extremely bad verse opus. But, as it turned out, the works of classmates were even worse. As a result, the work of young Misha was recognized as the best. According to him, this event inspired him to new creative experiences.

In the senior classes, the Weller family moved to Mogilev, which is in Belarus. It was then that he consciously realized that he really wanted to create.

He graduated from school with a gold medal in 1964 and enrolled at the faculty of the University in Leningrad.

Within the walls of the university

Arriving in Leningrad, young Weller began to live in the family of his grandfather. He was a biologist and was in charge of the department of one of the institutes.

At the university, Mikhail immediately became involved in student life. Weller had extraordinary abilities and outstanding organizational qualities. In any case, he became not only a Komsomol, but also a secretary of the Komsomol bureau of the entire university.

True, within the walls of the university he did not spend much time studying. According to him, he was interested in life in all its manifestations. As a result, the student Weller abandoned his studies and went in pursuit of adventure.

Thirst for adventure

The life of Weller Mikhail Iosifovich was never dull and monotonous. In 1969, he argued that he would get a "hare" to Kamchatka. Of course, without a penny in your pocket. He crossed the whole country and, thus, the bet was won.

The following year, he decided to formalize an academic leave. Having done this, he went to Central Asia, where he wandered there until the fall.

After that, the young traveler moved to Kaliningrad. It was here that he managed to complete the external courses of sailors. As a result, he went on the first sea voyage on a fishing boat.

The future writer had a lot of fun on the Soviet Union and gained new impressions. Therefore, in 1971 he recovered at the Faculty of Philology. By the way, in these times his story was placed in the university wall newspaper.

At the same time he also worked as a senior Pioneer leader in one of the St. Petersburg schools.

Soon, Weller successfully managed to defend his thesis work and, after becoming a professional philologist, went for new adventures.

Finding Yourself

After the university, Weller had to go to the army. True, he served only six months. Then he was commissioned.

On the "citizen" he started working in a rural school. He taught the students literature and Russian. In addition, he was a teacher of the extended day group. In the village he worked for one year, after which he decided to quit.

In general, throughout his life he changed about 30 professions. So, he was a concrete worker in the northern capital. In the summer, he traveled to the Tersky coast of the White Sea and the Kola Peninsula, where he worked as a feller for timber and a digger. In Mongolia, he distilled cattle. By the way, in his recollections, this was the best period in his life.

The beginning of the writer's career

When Weller returned to Leningrad, he was determined to switch completely to literary activity. As stated above, he published his first story in a college wall newspaper. And since that time the pencil and notebook have become his constant companions.

However, his early works were rejected by all editions.

At the same time, Weller participated in a seminar of young St. Petersburg science fiction writers. The brilliant Boris Strugatsky led them . Michael wrote a story called "Button". And this opus received the first prize at this contest.

Unfortunately, the Leningrad publishers did not pay any attention to this victory of the young writer and continued to ignore him. In fact, he was deprived of his livelihood. And the need prompted him to again engage in other activities. So, he processed military memoirs at one of the publishing houses. He also began to write reviews for the famous magazine "Neva".

In 1978, Weller managed to post his short humorous stories on the pages of the newspapers of Leningrad. But this situation did not suit him at all ...

In Tallinn

Weller decided to give up everything - he left the city, friends, beloved woman, family. In fact, he lived in poverty, and besides writing, he did not do anything. He was in Tallinn. The reason for this decision was only one - he wanted to release his book.

In 1979, he was employed in one of the republican publications. A year later he left the ranks of newsmen to join the "trade union group" at the Estonian Writers' Union. It was then that he had publications in such magazines as "Tallinn", "Ural" and "Literary Armenia". And in 1981 he wrote a story called "Line count". In this work he managed to formulate the foundations of his philosophy for the first time. However, we will come back to this a little later.

First success

In 1983, the creative biography of writer Michael Weller began. The book "I want to be a janitor" was his first of a large collection, available today. It was a collection of short stories. The edition became popular. The rights to this book were even sold to the Western publishing house. As a result, a year later Weller's collection was translated into several languages. In addition, a number of individual stories of the writer were published in countries such as France, Poland, Bulgaria, Italy and Holland.

By this time B. Strugatsky and B. Okudzhava gave him their recommendations so that he could join the Union of Writers of the Soviet Union. Despite the flattering evaluation of Weller's work, he was not accepted into the organization. He became a member of the Union in five years. The immediate reason was the publication of the second book of the writer. It was called "Everything about life."

After this career Weller prose writer with enviable activity began to gain momentum.

Triumph

In 1988, Weller published the story "The Testers of Happiness", then - "Heartbreaker". By this time, the writer was leading the department of Russian literature of the Russian-language edition "Rainbow" in Tallinn.

Two years later the work "Rendez-vous with the celebrity" was published. And for the work "But those shish" was even filmed an art film. During this period he founded the first Jewish cultural magazine in the Soviet Union "Jericho". Of course, he became the editor-in-chief.

A little later he began to give lectures on Russian prose in higher educational institutions of Turin and Milan.

And in 1998 there was a great work "Everything about life". It was there that Weller talked about his theory of "energy evolutionism."

Weller's Philosophical Theory

By and large, the writer's philosophical views were expounded in a number of his works. But only with time he was able to generalize his postulates into a single theory, which he called "energy evolutionism."

He relied on the work of many philosophers. But first of all the works of A. Schopenhauer, G. Spencer, V. Ostwald and L. White.

Not everyone took this turn in Weller's creative evolution. One of the well-known philosophers criticized him for his amateurism in philosophy. He characterized his theory as a "mixture of banalities." Others believed that this work, in fact, is a fount of original thoughts and an anthology of worldly wisdom.

Nevertheless, in different years Weller with success lectured, laying out the foundations of his energy evolutionism. So, the students listened with pleasure to him in Moscow State University, MGIMO University and the University of Jerusalem.

And in the Greek capital, he made a general report. This happened at the International Philosophical Forum. It was then that his work was awarded a prestigious medal.

Politician

Since 2011, the writer Mikhail Veller, whose creativity fell in love with many, seriously began to be interested in politics. So, at one time he called for voting for the Communist Party. He was convinced that the CPRF is the only association in the country that is independent of the oligarchs. Let's notice, repeatedly it had to defend the point of view. They took part in a number of TV debates and political talk shows. True, sometimes because of the emotional nature of the prose writer and philosopher, these shootings ended in scandals. So, in early spring of 2017, on the air of the TVC channel, he was outraged by accusations of lying to him. Then he ran the glass into the lead. A similar incident occurred in a month. On this day, Weller was at the radio station Ekho Moskvy. He explained his behavior. According to him, the host behaved extremely unprofessional and interrupted him constantly.

The Epoch of the New Millennium

In 2000, Weller broke up with Tallinn and moved to the Russian capital.

In the same period he published a new work - "The Messenger of Pisa."

In the winter of 2008, the Estonian authorities awarded him the Order of the White Star.

A little later, new books appeared on the shelves of bookstores. These were "Legends of Arbat" and "Love and Passion".

In general, Weller wrote almost 50 literary works. Some of them have been translated into many languages of the world.
