Hockey player Boris Mikhailov: biography (photo)

Boris Mikhailov is a name that is known not only to hockey fans of Soviet times. In the 1970s, he was known as one of the best players in the top three hockey forwards in Europe and the USSR. This man is a legend today, as he is actively and successfully engaged in coaching.

The birth and family of the future legend

Boris Mikhailov - hockey player, whose biography began in Moscow, was born in 1944. On October 6, the long-awaited second son appeared in the family of Maria Lukyanovna Malkova and Pyotr Timofeevich Mikhailov.

Parents of the future hockey player were completely ordinary people. My father worked as a plumber, and my mother worked at the well-known tobacco factory "Java". Boris Mikhailov is a hockey player whose family has had many children. After his birth, several more children were born.

Brothers of the famous hockey player

Alexander, who was born in 1948, in the future became a master of refrigeration. In 1950, Brother Anatoly was born , who spent his entire life as a taxi driver. Unfortunately, Boris's younger brothers are no longer alive. The elder brother, Viktor Petrovich, also died. Of the 4 children, only Boris was enthusiastic in sport, who subsequently brought all-Union glory to his family.

Childhood and youth of Boris Petrovich

In an interview, Boris Mikhailov says that his father, Pyotr Timofeevich, was from St. Petersburg. At one time he served at Budyonny, in the division of equestrian intelligence. After his father returned to Moscow, he worked as a mechanic. Unfortunately, this man's life did not last long. He died in 1954, when his son Boris was 10 years old.

The full support of the family and the upbringing of four sons was taken up by my mother, Maria Lukyanovna. It should also be noted that the woman was forced to raise her family on her own in the very difficult post-war years. She did not become in 1984, when one of her sons, Boris, became a recognized hockey player known to the whole Soviet Union.

Debut in the game on ice

Like almost any teenager in Soviet times, the future famous player and striker loved hockey from childhood. Mikhailov Boris first tried to play this game in his yard with his neighbors.

Then he was admitted to one of the hockey sections of the regional stadium, which was called "Labor Reserves". When Boris Mikhailov reached the age of 18, he left for Saratov, where he played for nearly three years for the Avangard team. This team was one of the weakest in the class "A". But since Mikhailov already stood out against mediocre players, by the will of the case he was noticed by Anatoly Kostryukov, the head of the Moscow "Locomotive" at the time.

"Locomotive" in those years was one of the strongest hockey clubs of the Union. Two years, Mikhailov played for this club, after which he was drafted into the army, and there Boris got into the legendary sports army club.

Career growth and recognition

Mikhailov was 23 years old when he officially became a player of CSKA. Given that other players came to the club at an earlier age and had more experience, Boris Mikhailov, a hockey player whose height was 176 cm, at first did not look very impressive against their background. But over time, inherent only to him, confident attack tactics, as well as a specific style of stroke, which provided for accelerating acceleration, left no doubt that the ice hockey is a real hockey talent.

Boris Mikhailov was recognized as one of the most courageous hockey players, who was not afraid of harsh rivals and ignored injuries and pain. He was lucky with his team mates. Mikhailov played with such celebrities as Petrov and Kharlamov. Later this troika will be called the best forwards of Soviet times.

Awards, regalia and achievements of the great hockey player

Boris Mikhailov - hockey player, whose number in the game as part of the USSR national team was 13, for his entire career played in the championships of the country 572 matches. In these games, he managed to throw 428 goals. In Soviet hockey nobody managed to increase this figure. This person quite deservedly became the owner of numerous victories and titles, among which:

  • Honored MS (the title was received in 1969 after the victory of the team at the World Championships).
  • 11-time champion of the USSR.
  • 8-time world champion.
  • Champion of the Olympics, held in 1972 in Sapporo and in 1976 in Innsbruck.
  • Best forward at the world championships, held in 1973 and 1979.
  • Best striker at the 1974 World Cup.
  • The second prize winner at the Olympic Games in Lake Placid, held in 1980.

For his talent, diligence and numerous victories, Mikhailov was awarded a number of honorary state awards:

  • Medal "For Labor Valor" (1969);
  • Order of the Badge of Honor (1972);
  • Order of the "Labor Red Banner" (1975);
  • Order of Lenin (1978);
  • "For Services to the Fatherland", IV degree (2004).

Coaching

After the silver medal received at the Olympics in 1980, Boris Mikhailov, whose photo is presented in this article, decided to end his career as a player. But, having great experience, knowledge and love for hockey, he successfully managed to realize himself in coaching.

At different times he coached SKA in St. Petersburg. In the period from 1998 to 2001, Boris Petrovich was the head coach of CSKA. Two years, beginning in 2007, he held the post of head coach of Metallurg in Novokuznetsk.

It should be noted that it was under his leadership that in 1993 the Russian team managed to win the World Cup and for the first time won its gold medals there. In 2002, under his leadership, the team won the title of vice-champion of the planet.

In his interviews, Boris Petrovich says that even today he is often tempted to work as a coach. But he refuses by virtue of age and because his beloved and devoted wife is against such proposals. She wants her husband to stay at home for a while.

Wife and children Mikhailova

With his wife, Tatyana Yegorovna, the legendary hockey player lived almost 50 years. They met for the first time as children, in a pioneer camp. Tatyana then was only 12 years old, and Boris a little more. She was the first to invite a guy to a white dance, and after that they did not see each other for several years. Boris Mikhailov says that when, 4 years later, by accident, Tatyana again met, I realized that this is not a mere coincidence. He decided to marry this girl.

Tatiana Egorovna was educated as a nurse, and after marriage she gave birth to the wife of two sons: Yegor and Andrey. Since the husband was always on the road and at the training camp, the mother was fully engaged in the upbringing of the children. It's natural that the houses of the legendary father were seen very rarely. Based on the evolving circumstances, Tatyana also led the whole economy.

After the children have matured, for a long time the hockey spouse lived herself in a family dacha near Moscow, in the village of Povarovo. As for the sons, it seems that the genes laid down by the father showed themselves. Both of them, having grown up, also tied their destiny with hockey.

The first son, Andrew, was born in 1967, and the second, Egor, in 1978. Initially, the elder was given to the figure skating section, and the younger was engaged in swimming. But the guys made an independent decision to continue the path of their father. Andrei played for a while on the ice, but then realized that he did not become a legendary striker, and took up quite a successful coaching career, taking the post of head coach of CSKA-2. At the same time, as a player in the youth of CSKA Moscow, he received the title of champion of the USSR.

Yegor's younger son also achieved certain successes in hockey. At one time he played for CSKA, Metallurg, SKA and Dynamo. Egor took part in the "Match of All Stars" and won a deserved victory in the European Cup.

Habits and character of the hockey legend

Despite popular love and recognition, all the relatives say that Boris Mikhailov remained a modest person. Universal recognition still hinders him, and there are times when he feels uncomfortable. His wife Tatiana tells that her husband does not like to go to the markets terribly, where ordinary people still recognize him and strive to give a living legend some gift.

All his free time, Boris Petrovich now gives his sons and grandchildren, trying at the first opportunity to visit them. One of the younger grandchildren also continued the family tradition and at the age of 7 years with joy and interest began to practice hockey.

In his spare time, Mikhailov is driving a car. He managed to buy a "Nissan-Patron" and rides with pleasure on this machine. Tatyana Yegorovna proudly keeps all the awards of her husband, some of which were transferred to the museum of the glory of CSKA. Also, the couple hope very much that over time this collection will be replenished with the awards of their sons.

Mikhailov follows all the news in the world of hockey. He tries not to miss any important game. Also, if it turns out, he tries to be personally present at all the games of CSKA. This person in the world of hockey enjoys undeniable authority, and in numerous interviews he is asked to comment on the results of the games.

At his dacha in Povarovo, his wife Tatyana with pleasure grows a lot of flowers and even managed to build there an amazing greenhouse. She, like many years ago, does everything for the convenience and comfort of her legendary and still beloved wife.
