Windows Aero, what is it?

Thanks to the style of Windows 7 Aero, users of this operating system have an excellent opportunity not only to visually decorate its appearance, but also to make the work behind the computer more convenient. Aero itself includes several interesting effects, but they can significantly reduce the responsiveness of the operating system to weak computers. But this is not a problem, because this type of design can be turned off if desired, by going to the classic or simplified type of design. The rating of your computer you can see in the properties of the system. To do this, you need to find the item of the same name in the control panel.

If you plunge into history, the development of Windows Aero began simultaneously with the development of the project Longhorn. Based on the latter, the Windows Server 2008 and Vista operating systems were launched. After that, the project began to be labeled as Aero and included user interface modifications . If you remember the fate of Vista, you can say that its quality appearance was very popular with users, but they were frustrated with the operation of the operating system itself, but this is a separate topic, especially since Microsoft programmers took into account all the wishes and based on them released Windows 7.

Now let's take a look at all the effects that are included in Windows Aero.

  1. Aero Glass - this effect is designed to create a transparent window, giving them a "glass". In addition, it provides smooth transitions between the windows, while creating voluminous images. Since Aero Glass is responsible for the lion's share of effects in Windows Aero, respectively, it is the most resource-intensive. To disable it, go to the simplified style, in which Glass is inactive by default.
  2. Aero Snap is a very interesting innovation that allows you to drag a window to any edge of the desktop, after which it unfolds according to several proposed schemes. This effect simplifies the work with the desktop and windows.
  3. Aero Snake - this effect allows you to minimize other windows with the help of the shaking window.
  4. Aero Peek - when you hover over a minimized window in the taskbar, a mini-image of the selected window pops up.

As you understand, to maintain the smooth operation of these effects, you will need a powerful computer with a good graphics card. Microsoft itself claims that there will be enough CPU in 1 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, a video card with at least 32 MB of memory, and it should support DirectX 9. But in practice, these values need to be doubled, and that Concerns the video card, then at all in four.

Many Windows XP users would like to be able to use these effects in their operating system. The craftsmen have developed special packs that make it possible to implement Windows XP Aero. Naturally, they do not reach a full-fledged effect, but they give a more similar appearance to a greater degree. As noted above, systems such as Windows Vista and Windows 7 come with the Aero effect only in the maximum possible variants. All others are decorated in a simplified style.

Not everyone will like the volume of windows, the cursor, the smoothness of rolling windows. To disable Windows Aero, go to the control panel, then go to the system. Go to the design tab, you can turn off unnecessary effects, achieving the best, in your opinion, appearance.
