Window Slopes - Finishing Options

A window slope is the part of the wall that is directly adjacent to the window opening. When replacing an old wooden window with a modern plastic double-glazed window, as a rule, it is almost always necessary to finish the slopes, both from the outside and from the inside. This is due to some mismatch in the size of the new window with the opening, as a result of which the integrity of the old slopes is sometimes very severely damaged, without the finishing of which the installation of the double-glazed unit can not be called completely finished.

So how do window slopes trim today, what materials are used for this, and whether it is possible to perform this type of work independently?

First of all, it is worth remembering that the external slopes are recommended to be closed immediately after the installation of the plastic window. The position of the owner "and me in the apartment foam from the street is not visible" can be called not only wrong, but even harmful. The fact that under the influence of moisture and sun rays assembly foam, which acts as a sealant, almost immediately begins to deform and collapse. As a result, its thermal insulation properties are significantly reduced, and all efforts to warm the room are reduced to "no."

External window slopes, if the layer of mounting foam is not too thick, can be covered with silicone sealant or a special sealing tape. However, as a rule, this method is not used very often, usually the window slopes from the outside are plastered and painted with a special facade paint. However, experts advise to replace the plaster with a tile adhesive solution, which is not afraid of environmental influences and temperature changes, as a result of which the external window slopes made of it will be more reliable and durable.

With the finishing of the internal apertures, you can wait a bit, especially if the apartment is undergoing major repairs. In the same cases, when the replacement of the window was carried out in an already renovated room, it is better not to pull the slopes out - at least purely for aesthetic reasons.

The most common methods for the construction of internal window slopes are their plastering or finishing with plasterboard. Such window slopes with their own hands to perform quite simply, which, in fact, and do many house craftsmen. The description of these traditional methods and detailed step-by-step instructions can always be found on the Internet, but a relatively new technology - the decoration of window openings with plastic - can be discussed in more detail.

Strictly speaking, plastic window slopes are known for a long time. Previously, they were made from PVC panels (the so-called siding) approximately in the same way as the slopes of plasterboard. However, of all the advantages that this method of window opening provided, it is possible to distinguish only the speed of work and the fact that the PVC slope does not need special care and restoration.

Today there was an innovative method of finishing window openings - thermo-slots from so-called sandwich panels, which are two sheets of plastic, between which a layer of insulation is laid. This finishing material of a new generation, which bears not only aesthetic, but also a functional load - plays the role of a heater. It is made of the same materials, of which the double-glazed windows are made, and therefore ideally approaches the window in color and texture.

Plastic window slopes are beautifully washed, do not turn yellow, do not require painting and are very durable. In addition, their installation not only does not take much time, but it is still easy to implement with your own hands.
