Who is the biblical prophet?

The theme of this publication is the Great Bible prophets. In order to tell about all the people who carried and carry such a ministry, you will need to write a book, and maybe not one. Also at this time we are only interested in the Bible, the interpretation of which becomes more accessible to people who have an idea of its purpose, meaning and content.

To begin with, if not the first, then one of the first monotheistic religions today is considered to be Judaism. Monotheistic means that its religious teaching implies the existence of only one God, categorically denying the existence of other deities in the universe. In this case, such a God is recognized as Yahweh, who is the Creator of all things and reigns in the invisible and visible worlds. Accordingly, the Jews began to believe in the prophets, who are intermediaries between God and people. In the second book of Chronicles 20:20 the king calls on the people to believe God and his prophets in order to achieve success in life.

In some ways, the role of prophets in Judaism is similar to that of pagan priests. Both of them brought God (gods) sacrifices, receiving revelations, instructions that should be passed on to the people, the king or a certain person. For example, the biblical prophet Samuel once came to the house of Jesse to inform that God chose his son David as his Anointed King. Samuel also performed the anointing of David on the kingdom, through the sacred oil of the horn.

The biblical prophet of the Old and New Testaments has radical differences. New Testament ministers no longer sacrifice animals to God. In ancient times, the victims symbolized the Savior of the World of Christ, who would be crucified on the Cross. The prophets of the Old Testament basically predicted the coming of the Messiah, born of the Virgin. The above-mentioned King David is also a Biblical prophet, like his son Solomon. They knew that Christ the Messiah would come to the world from the kindred of King David.

There are very few people in the world who do not know the Bible prophet Moses. He was born in Egypt, when his people were in bondage to the rulers of this country - the pharaohs. The Bible tells how little Moses was hidden in a basket in the middle of the Nile River. There he was safely found by Pharaoh's daughter and took to the palace for education. In fact, thus, his life was saved, since Jewish babies at that time were deprived of their lives immediately after their birth.

When Moses grew up, he learned about his origins and could not look calmly at how his people suffer in a heavy "Egyptian yoke." He saw the overseer beat the Jew and, unable to restrain himself, killed the Egyptian. As a consequence, Moses had to flee and spend some time in the desert. There he met with God, who spoke from a burning bush. So Moses became God's servant and prophet. He returned to Egypt and demanded from Pharaoh the liberation of his people. This story is described in Exodus. Later, it was the biblical prophet Moses who received from God 10 commandments of the Old Testament.

The Bible tells us about other people whose prophecies are written down and collected in separate books, so called "Prophets." They are divided into small and large. It's not that some are more important, but in terms of texts. Great prophets are the books of the prophets: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and the prophet Daniel. The rest are small: Joel, Obadiah, Naum, Micah, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Hosea, Zechariah, Malachi, and others. If you selectively, for example, the book of the prophet Zephaniah, you can find the following ideas in it:

• Any events taking place on the Earth are a consequence of God's Will.
• One day the Lord's Day will come, which will bring cataclysms, comparable in scale to the World Flood. Only true believing God-fearing people will be able to survive.
• To His chosen children God will manifest salvation and grant them the Kingdom of Eternal Peace, Happiness and Joy.

The prophets of the New Testament mainly carry the messages of the Church of Jesus Christ, edifying and affirming Christians in the faith.
