Who is Darth Vader? "Star Wars"

It's unlikely that there will be a person among fans of cinema and pop culture who does not know who Darth Vader is. He became a symbol of the space epic "Star Wars" and its main antagonist. Despite the fact that he is a negative character, fans are elevating him to the rank of his favorite heroes. However, once one of the greatest villains in the history of the Galaxy (our and fictional) was an ordinary boy, who for many reasons became a servant of the dark side.

Childhood

Once the most controversial character of the movie Star Wars, Darth Vader was called Anakin Skywalker. For the first time, viewers meet with him on the sandy planet Tatooine, where he and his mother were enslaved to a seller of spare parts named Watto. From early childhood, the boy possessed a high intellect and highly developed technical abilities. At the age of 9 he collected his own droid S-3RO and a real racing car. Qui-Gon Jinn immediately sensed a huge Force in the young slave. Sensations did not disappoint the Jedi when he learned that the amount of copper chlorides in Anakin is much greater than that of Master Yoda. He tries to find out from his mother Shmi who was the father of the child, but she says that besides him, he has never had anyone else. This pushes Qui-Gon into the idea of a prophecy that says that a person will be born from the Force, called to restore balance in the world. Then he decides to take the young technician himself to the Padawans, which becomes possible when he wins a bet with Watto, the condition of which was Anakin's victory in the races.

The Clone Wars

At the end of ten years of training, Anakin masterfully master Jedi techniques and has special talents. His teacher is Obi-Wan Kenobi, since it was the dying request of Qui-Gon Jinn. In this part of the Star Wars, Darth Vader begins to awaken inside the young Skyukoer. He is always accompanied by stubbornness and vanity, and the patronage of the Sith Lord, who is Chancellor Palpatine, further strengthens his sense of superiority in him. The first step, made to move to the dark side of the Force, is the mass execution of a whole Tusken tribe in the name of revenge for captivity and the subsequent death of the mother. At the same time, he became very fond of Padmé Amidala, the former queen of Naboo. He learns that his love is not without excuses, and contrary to strict rules the Jedi marry their lover secretly from everyone. Because of the inseparable connection with his wife, a strong fear of losing her arises in him, which also condones the formation of the Sith.

Transition to the dark side

The next significant course of the internal war of Darth Vader and Anakin Skyukoer is the murder of Count Dooku on the orders of Chancellor Palpatine, which violates the principle of the Jedi not to execute unarmed prisoners. Almost immediately after that, he learns of Padmé's pregnancy, but his joy from this news is replaced by a strong fear, eclipsing everything around. Strength shows him the future, in which the wife dies during childbirth. Worried about this vision, he shares this with Palpatine, which speaks of the unconditional trust of the young Jedi to his patron. He does not even suspect of the skilful plan of the future Emperor to make Eni the Sith and his devoted disciple. Thus, the seeds of the dark side sown to them begin to sprout rapidly. When Skywalker learns that the chancellor is Darth Sidious, he tells this to the Jedi Council, where he sits as Palpatine's representative. However, he soon begins to realize that the latter can protect Padme from death. In the decisive battle between Mace Windu and the Sith Lord, Anakin takes the side of the latter, as a result of which the Master dies. From that moment on, he becomes a disciple of Sidious and, by his order, kills all young Jedi and separatists. It is the new trilogy that opens up the truth to the audience about who Darth Vader is, and gives an idea of how he became a villain.

Years of the reign of the Sith

At the end of the new trilogy, Obi-Wan chops off Anakin's both legs and hand, and his body completely burns in the fire. However, the self-proclaimed Emperor Palpatine manages to save his pupil from death with the help of a special costume. Since then, the sword of Darth Vader turns red, and he himself commands the armed forces of his teacher, while on the Death Star. He takes prisoner Princess Leia Organa, who is his daughter, but still does not know about it. In order to reveal where the rebel base is located, and to return the schemes of its space station, it destroys Alderaan. At this time, the "Millennium Falcon" is attracted to them, along with Khan Sol, Chewbacca, aged Obi-Wan, Luke and droids on board. They flee, but Vader manages to kill his former teacher. Later, he encounters Luke when he tries to destroy the Death Star, and feels that the young man is full of Force. As a result, he has to flee, and the fighter of the planets explodes thanks to the young Skywalker.

Meeting with the son

In the next episode, Luke will have a terrible secret about who Darth Vader is. He ends up in Dagobah, where he studies with Master Yoda. However, at this time, the dark lord captures his friends, in order to lure Skywalker into a trap. He succeeds in this, and during the battle with lightsabers he cuts off the hand of the young Jedi, after which he confesses that he is his father. Vader suggests his son to choose his side and together to overthrow the Emperor in order to rule the Galaxy. Luke painfully carries this news and jumps into the garbage compartment, where he is picked up by the escaped crew of the Millennium Falcon.

Repentance

In the next part of the popular space opera "Star Wars", Darth Vader is building a new Death Star, which should become more powerful than the previous one. Together with the Sith Lord, he devises a plan for how to entice Luke to the dark side, because his skills can be very valuable to the Empire. Thus, he once again captures his son, who has firmly decided not to resist, as he hopes that the father has remained good. Soon, Vader learns that he has a daughter, also endowed with the Force. Then he threatens Luke that he will entice her to his side. The young Jedi succumbs to anger and tries to smash Vader with a light sword. The emperor encourages him to kill his father and take his place, but Skywalker does not succumb and throws off his weapons. While Palpatine inflicts heavy blows on Luke with lightning, Darth Vader realizes that he can not allow the death of his son and dumps his lord in the mine, where he dies. However, Anakin's life-support is damaged. Taking off his helmet, he utters the last words, and his healed soul finds peace.

Armor

It is thanks to a black cloak and a helmet that most people know who Darth Vader is. These armor were designed specifically to support the life of the wounded Skywalker, without them, he almost immediately deprived of the opportunity to breathe. Traditions of the Sith are ordered to wear heavy black suits. In total, 2 different garments were created for each of the trilogies. Their design and construction took a lot of time and effort, which eventually justified themselves.

Actors

As many as 4 actors participated in the creation of the image of Darth Vader. In the first part of the new trilogy of a small Anakin played Jake Lloyd, and in the next two places Skywalker was taken by Hayden Christensen, who also appears in the sixth episode in the guise of a ghost. With the original trilogy, the situation is more complicated. In all three parts in the suit was David Prouse, who during sword battles was replaced by the British swordsman Bob Anderson. The voice of Darth Vader belongs to James Earl Jones, and in parts from 3 to 6. And when his hero removes the mask, then the viewers face the actor Sebastian Shaw. Probably, this is one of the few characters in the history of cinema, the image of which was embodied simultaneously by so many performers and became truly cult.
