Who are the sidi? A little bit about P2P networks

It is difficult to imagine a person who does not use torrent trackers at least once in his life. Yes, it is illegal, but, after all, the amounts saved by downloading pirated copies of money are impressive and are forced to continue to engage in this shameful, but profitable business. However, it often happens that using peer-to-peer networks, people do not have the slightest idea how they work: who are the seats, what determines the download speed, why you need to distribute it, and so on. We will discuss all this in this article.

Peer-to-Peer networks are voluntary associations of computers around the world for the purpose of information exchange via the Internet. The advantage of P2P networks is that by combining multiple participants, you can achieve speeds previously unthinkable for data transfer. The thing is that, as a rule, any Internet connection speed of sending information is less than the speed of reception - it does not matter, it's a normal home PC or a powerful server. Now imagine what will happen if tens of thousands of users start simultaneously accessing the same server in order to get a pirated copy of a new movie? The server is guaranteed to fail. That's why P2P networks work on the principle of "you to me, and I to you", that is, the data exchange occurs directly between users' computers, while the copy itself is not stored on the tracker (the server that tracks data streams and directs them). Seats and feasts are members of peer-to-peer networks. Despite the fact that the network has such a name, feasts are not the only ones, moreover, not its main participants.

Who are the sidi? When you first hear this word, an association with small fairy-tale creatures comes to mind, but in reality everything is much simpler. The Sides are the participants in the data exchange process who have already downloaded the complete file (that is, all of its segments) and, accordingly, can send it to other users. Very often on the forums of trackers you can find the phrase "not enough distributing", and so, distributors - this is the Sidi.

With the concept of "feast" a little more complicated. If there are no doubts and disagreements as to who such sidi are, then about the feasts there are two points of view. According to the first one, you can name any participant of the P2P network (actually, that's why it is called peer-to-peer), but some experts believe that the feasts are only those who are in the process of downloading (they are sometimes called lichas). The author of this article considers the first point of view to be more correct, since then all three concepts - sid, feast and lich - logically agree: the concept of "feast" is generic in relation to the concepts of "sid" and "lich". Thus, each feast can either immediately become a sit (if it creates a new distribution), or become first lich, download the file to be distributed, and then turn into a sit, when from its computer will begin sending data to other users. Naturally, the more on the distribution of the sidi, the greater the speed of the jump can be achieved by the lich, but increasing their number leads to a reduction in the speed of the jump.

We hope that from this article our readers understood how the P2P networks are organized, who are the sidies, lychees and feasts. I would like to add that we recommend that you download with the help of P2P-networks only those materials that do not violate anyone's copyright and are distributed freely. It is also recommended to be grateful to those who create distributions, leaving the downloaded files on their computer in order to distribute them to other feasts. Thus, you continue the life of the distribution and give the chance to more people to enjoy a good film or music.

We wish you interesting hands, wide channels and lots of sideways!
