Where and how are the tile angles used?

Before you start laying the tiles, you must perform its preliminary layout. This is necessary for the master to provide for all possible nuances of future work. For example, for decorating and strengthening corner joints, special tile angles are used (Made of PVC). These inexpensive but highly functional accessories give the clutch a neat and complete look.

Plastic corners for ceramic masonry are usually made of rigid PVC with various additives, which allow to give the finished product the necessary degree of strength and flexibility.

The tile corner is usually used where it is necessary to join two planes with external or internal corners. Such a corner can also be used as an element that allows finishing the laying of the ceramic coating on a certain plane, and as a decorative element used at the junction of the tile with other building materials.

Corners for tiles are designed to solve such problems:

  • Strengthening of corner joints;
  • Protection of tile edges from mechanical damage, such as chips, scratches and abrasion;
  • Decoration of the corner joints of the tile and improving the appearance of the entire structure;
  • Simplification of the installation of individual elements or dismantling in case of replacement.

Thus, the tile angles are designed for aesthetic and professional finishing of the edges formed during the laying of the ceramic coating. They significantly speed up the work of the master-tiler, help to hide a minor marriage that may occur during the process of sawing tiles.

The only case in which the use of a corner is not appropriate is the installation of ceramic tiles with a relief surface. In this situation, the tile corners can not fit snugly against the surface. Consequently, the resulting gaps will get dust and moisture. Select the corner and profile for the tiles should not only in accordance with the color of the main finishing material, but also guided by its thickness.

The work on laying the ceramic coating should begin with the most noticeable angle in the room. When the time is right to lay the tiles in a corner, with the help of a level or a plumb, it is necessary to put a strip of corner on the glue. In it, you need to "fill" the last tile in the row and then start laying the next one. Each successive series starts from the opposite side. For wall tiles, which has a small thickness and size, usually use corners in 6-8 mm.

For floor or wall tiles large format is ideal for large corners. Be that as it may, before you begin to work, you need to check whether the tile is firmly in the grooves of the corners.

Some masters prefer to begin work on laying from the installation of the corner to the tile glue, while achieving the ideal horizontality or verticality, and only after that start to work.
