When is Astana Day celebrated? Day of the city in Astana

Astana is the new capital of Kazakhstan. This is, perhaps, one of the most modern cities in Central Asia. Having become the capital after Alma-Ata, Astana began to develop intensively in all respects. This is especially true for urban infrastructure. In only fifteen years, from a simple ordinary city grew a beautiful cultural and economic center of world significance.

When is the city day celebrated ? Astana, how does it celebrate? What is the capital of Kazakhstan?

After reading this article, you will be able to find out brief information about this amazingly beautiful modern city, about why today's capital of Kazakhstan is a pride of people living in it. Before we turn to the answer to the question of what the day of Astana is, we will get acquainted with the city itself.

On the beginning of the city

Astana is a former Tselinograd, which was formerly called Akmola. The city was built as a military fortification by Russian-Kazakh soldiers in 1824 on the bank of the river. Ishim (Karotokel area).

It was a terrible backwater in those days, where 150 people worked in artisanal small enterprises. They were engaged in processing of animal raw materials. Sometimes there were fairs - trade in various agricultural products.

It turns out that, in fact, the birthday of Astana is 1824.

Further development

By 1868, the settlement had become a district center with a population of about 10,000 people.

In the sixties of the 20th century, virgin lands began to be developed in Kazakhstan, and in this connection Astana also received a boost to its new development. In the spring of 1955, young people arrived in Kazakhstan to develop virgin lands.

The city became widely known for the fairs held here. Here traders came from all regions of Kazakhstan, from Central Asia and even from Russia. In connection with all these events, the city received a new name - Tselinograd. He acquired the status of the administrative center of a huge agrarian region.

Since 1998, after gaining independence by the republic and moving the capital here, Astana has become the youngest city in the world, having such a status.
Since then, she has been beautifying day by day, changing her appearance.

From the history of the holiday

In 1994, on July 6, the Supreme Council of the Republic adopted a resolution on the transfer of the capital from the city of Alma-Ata to the city of Akmola. And in 1997 the President of Kazakhstan N.Nazarbayev made the final decision. According to his 1998 Decree (May 6), Akmola was renamed to Astana.

Since then, the city's day in Astana is celebrated annually. At that time, this holiday was celebrated on June 10. And in 2006 his date was changed and postponed to July 6. Such a decision still causes certain disputes among some people, since on the same day the birthday of the first president of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nazarbayev NA, is also celebrated. It should be said about the existence of the opposition statement that this coincidence allows talking about the new city as the most expensive gift that the head of Kazakhstan presented himself.

The Majilis approved the introduction of an amendment to the Law of the Republic "On Holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan", according to which the state holiday of the republic was established - the Day of the capital - on July 6. The Majilis Committee pointed out that this holiday for the people will have an important historical and cultural significance. This day is a symbol of the great achievements of the republic. Since then, July 6 is the day of the city. Astana blossoms on this day.

About transformations in the city

From the very beginning of Astana's acquisition of the status of the capital of the republic, mass construction began here, as a result of which it turned into a beautiful modern city of Central Asia. For 20 years the population has grown from 270 thousand people to 800 or more.

Since the city became the capital and the day of Astana was officially appointed, everything has been transformed here. Not only Kazakh architects, but also numerous foreign specialists took part in the construction. The main goal in creating the image of the capital is to give Astana a Eurasian image. This city combines the best elements of the West and the East.

The old part of the city has changed dramatically, the modern embankment of the Yesil River has acquired a beautiful view, new modern buildings have appeared on the main square near the presidential palace "Ak-Orda" (the new city center).

To mark the day of Astana its inhabitants can be proud. Residents and guests see how rapidly the new city is rising and expanding. Such attention to Astana is due to the fact that it is the main symbol of the great achievements of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the years of its independence. By the decision of UNESCO in 1999, Astana was deservedly awarded the title of "Cities of the World".
