What should be the knife of special forces

The knife accompanies a person from ancient times. This is a weapon, and an instrument, and a cutlery. Its purpose and form have not changed much in the whole history of mankind, but disputes about how it should be used and for what is being pursued are still being conducted. Particularly strong controversy is the notion of "knife special forces." Without pretending to the truth in the last resort, I'll try to give my definition.

Versatility

First, the concept of "special forces" is very vague, because it's sappers, and signalmen, and saboteurs with scouts, divers, finally. Each of these specialties has its own requirements for the knife. And the fulfillment of some of them completely levels out other valuable qualities of this weapon. To find the golden mean, we will discard narrowly specialized samples and look for the universal qualities that military knives should have in general. Why do we need universality? Is it not more appropriate to produce individual professional knives of special forces? Unfortunately no. Modern armies are estimated by millions of fighters, and it is impossible to provide each unit with exclusive equipment. This, perhaps, will not withstand any budget.

What should be the knife of special forces

First of all, this is an instrument and only then weapons, and hence its application characteristics should in no case be sacrificed to combat qualities. In turn, in spite of the fact that in today's conditions a knife fight is unlikely, it is still possible. In this case, the enemy is likely to be in the means of protection, therefore, the knife should, if not punch them, at least retain its qualities after a failed blow. And now let's move on to the specifics:

- Knife special forces should have a simple handle shape with a metal flat heel. Its weight should not exceed 350 gr. (With scabbard). The length of the blade is no more than 18 cm. Its steel has a high resistance to corrosion, but at the same time it provides sufficient strength, including fracture and satisfactory cutting properties. It is advisable that the coating of the blade is matte.

- In conditions of wide application of personal protective equipment, the thin dagger point does not have sufficient strength. It is impractical even when using the tool as a trench tool. I think it makes sense to sharpen the knife special forces in the form of "Tanto" or her like.

- Necessarily the presence of a silver grinding, which allows you to easily cut slings, halyards and other materials that make up the equipment.

- As in bayonet knives, a very valuable quality is the ability to snack a wire under tension. How exactly this ability will be implemented constructively, it does not matter, but it must be necessary. And it should be provided that the bite wire can be under high voltage. And we are not talking here only about barbed wire. As practice shows, modern fighting occurs more often in the city, where the need to snack a power cable can occur at any time.

- The materials of the scabbards and hilt must have increased strength, be light and, by definition, not conduct electric current.
