What is the World Wide Web?

Modern man no longer thinks himself without the Internet. But very few people know that it really is - the World Wide Web. The abbreviation WWW, or the expression "World Wide Web", literally translates to "The network that covers the whole world." So, what is the Internet and how does it work? To begin with, this is true, the Network. It includes many different components, such as communications, segments, equipment, nodes and much more. All this allows you to transfer information and share it.

When the World Wide Web began to be formed, a group of initiative and knowledgeable specialists in this field developed a system of optimal rules for the transmission of information. Then this system was called protocols. They are generally accepted around the world, and data on the Network are transmitted only by these protocols. How it works? All information, whether graphic, text, video or audio information is encrypted in a special way, transmitted over the Internet, and the user sees already decoded information sent to him by the recipient. The World Wide Web has different protocols and it depends on what programs and functions we use when working in it. Whether you use ICQ or Skype programs, browse sites or work with mail - for all this, there are different protocols and this information is transmitted in a compressed or encrypted form. These protocols, in turn, constitute a single set, called TCP / IP.

The World Wide Web also provides all computers connected to it with their network addresses or IP. That is, as soon as you connect to the Web, you will be given an address.

It allows other servers and computers that are also connected to the Internet to recognize your computer from many others. Your device, in turn, can allocate other servers due to this address and each of them separately from each other.

If someone can think that confusion may arise in the transmission of information, then he will make a mistake. After all, the World Network assigns to each computer its own unique IP. A computer without IP can not be a full-fledged member of the Network and use its services. For example, you can not send or receive mail, view the site you are interested in, etc.

Websites are no less important elements of the global network . But since the IP address consists of digits, it is difficult to remember its simple user. For this purpose, the system of DNS-names was invented, which allows us to give names to names that are familiar to our eyes with digital IP naming.

So, let's summarize our research. The World Wide Web is all computers connected to it using a personal network address. Interaction between them occurs according to special rules - protocols. For different functions use different protocols. All data on the Internet is transmitted in coded form. All this happens at the hardware level and is completely invisible to the user, who can receive and send data in the usual way.
