What is the region and how does it differ from the district and the region
Recently, some politicians have become fashionable instead of such understandable words as "district", "edge", "region", use the foreign term "region". On the one hand, it is clear that the speaker implies a certain part of the territory, and on the other - it is not entirely clear where its borders end. Take, for example, an area. Is it a region or not? And the district? Can it be called a region? It's time to finally deal with this issue.
What is the region?
This word came from the English language. If you open a dictionary and see what a region is and how to correctly translate it into Russian, you can easily get confused. A large number of possible options are simply amazing: the region, the region, the sphere, the land, the country, etc. From this it can be concluded that the region is a dimensionless, that is not dependent on the area of the covered territory.
Than this term differs from related concepts
The term "area" is considered to be closest in meaning to this word. It denotes a certain part of space or, in principle, the same, a certain limited part of the object under consideration. At the same time, it is customary to use the word "area" more in the sense of "region", within which any phenomena are spread. Now consider the word "district". In domestic practice, this term is usually used to refer to any formal administrative unit. From the point of view of the formal legal approach, the region is the basic unit and the larger the region. At the same time, the research approach leads to a different opinion. From the point of view of regionalization, the region is perceived as a formal territorial unit and represents a special case of the region. As for the region, the given word is used in two cases: as an administrative unit and as a synonym for the word "area".
