What is DotA: concept and description

The question of what "Dota" is today is very relevant. Probably, very few people have not heard of such a computer game as "Dota". Strange as it may seem, there are not so many ads. But even without them all are hearing these letters. Let's look at what DotA is.

First of all, we are talking about a computer game with an emphasis on the game with real rivals (that is, over the network). In English, it sounds like DoTA - Defense of the Ancients, and in Russian - quite funny - "Defense of the Ancients". Consider the essence of the game. There are two teams of five players in each (can play both live people and a computer). The task of each team is to defend their sanctuary and try to destroy the enemy.

The first time the light saw this game as an amateur supplement to Warcraft 3. To be precise, it was not even an addition, but rather a map with the aforementioned scenario. However, players so happily accepted this card, that soon there were updates to it, which corrected the balance of power, introduced innovations and new heroes. Very few people will remember how many they were at the very beginning. After all, almost every month or even more often appeared all new and new versions of "Dota". Today, almost the whole world is absorbed by the official second part of the game called "Dota-2".

It is no longer a separate card or addition. "Dota-2" is a full-fledged independent game with a new graphics and physics engines, an interface, graphics and other delights in the form of a new kind of characters, animation and so on. What is DotA today? It is the same as it was in the beginning. After all, the idea remained the same: this is a good network game in which everyone can hone their teamwork skills, coordination, reaction. This is a beautiful world in which you can plunge after a hard day's work. The creators of the second part of the game - the company Valve - approached the creation of the game very competently and to remove the monotony, introduced seasonal events that transform the game into a new genre. For example, under the new year, players can protect the throne of the Ice King from the advancing waves of demons and all evil spirits.

At the beginning of each match (or event), players need to choose a hero. For this, today the game already has about 112 heroes and in the near future there may be even more - after all, the update of "Dota-2" occurs almost every few days. The map on which the battle itself takes place is simple enough and understandable. From each sanctuary to meet each other through the forest, three paths are held: the upper one (on the game jargon it sounds like top-line), medium (mid-line), bottom (bot-line). Every 30 seconds along these tracks a small troop of troops is being released, which is controlled by a computer. They are called "creeps" or "creeps". They are led by the same goal as the heroes. So every team throughout the game also meets with the creeps of the Allies, and with the enemy. In addition, there are neutral creeps on the map. Any murder, whether an enemy hero, creep or neutral (neutral creep), gives valuable experience and gold. The first we spend on learning new abilities that will help in battles, and for the second we buy powerful weapons and artifacts. And for each hero, not all artifacts are valuable, but only those that are suitable for his class.

DotA is a game in which there are three classes of heroes: strong and powerful warriors, deft and quick killers, wise and dangerous sorcerers. And the priority of the indicators in them is appropriate: for the first - force; For the second - dexterity; For the third - intellect. Most often warriors are heroes of close combat, dodgers know how to beat both near and from a distance, and sorcerers use spells to get rid of enemies from a distance. Although everywhere there are rare, but valuable exceptions. Artifacts and weapons for each of the classes give their pleasant bonuses. Swords, hammers, armor and amulets give warriors valuable health and increase their power to strike. Blades, bows and fetishes give the Dodgers more abilities to evade enemy strikes and inflict fatal wounds. Magic raincoats, runestones and staffs increase the power of the sorcerer's spells, allowing them to inflict huge damage.

Although there are exceptions: some heroes can collect not exactly those artifacts that correspond to their class. This is due to the specifics of the hero himself, or, conversely, the types of enemy heroes. For example, if there are many wizards in the enemy team, it makes sense to purchase a cloak that absorbs some of the magic damage. Many weapons and artifacts are capable of forming even more lethal combinations and making heroes almost unstoppable machines of victory. But no matter what mythical amulets are worn by a hero, they are far from deciding the outcome of the game.

What is DotA? This is all described above. But the most important thing is the skill of playing in the team. Of course, there are super-pro guys who alone can draw their faction to victory. But the joint game is much more pleasant. Teamwork, tactics, reaction, adequacy - these are the main criteria for victory, when you play with real people in one direction. Without them, players, no matter how steep they are, will do nothing good together. A clear victory depends on the precise work of all the team members. Many say that DotA is a hotbed of foul language, an abyss into which time flows, and a source of computer addiction. But let's look at it in an adult way. Everywhere there is dependence, swearing and waste of time. The state of our children and our own depends on how we educate ourselves and them, what values we impose and the concepts of ethics and morality.
