What is an exposition and how to set it up?

It often happens that photography - when using any of the professional level of the camera - turns out too light or too dark. The correct color balance of the picture is what an exposition is. Amateur photographers use automatic and semi-automatic modes. However, if you are thinking about creating a quality photo, you should know not only what the exposure is, but also how to properly configure it in different lighting by hand.

A few words about color compensation

The standard exposure value that the camera recognizes is not always enough to get a good picture. Exposure Compensation helps to adjust the camera's default settings. It is adjusted for each photo and for different lighting separately.

Every object has the ability to reflect light. Therefore, it is impossible to say exactly when exposure adjustment may be required - this depends on the level of illumination, the expected end result and the skills of the photographer. Each camera is equipped with an exposure meter, which is used for independent adjustments. With its help, you can observe the balance of light and dark in photos, making them more expressive and excluding overexposure or underexposure.

Recommendations for setting the exposure
It is not enough to know what an exposition is, in order to receive high-quality photographs, as it may not always be necessary. Additional settings are required in certain cases.
If there are bright objects in the frame, then an increase is recommended. When shooting dark subjects, on the contrary, the camera automatically increases the exposure, resulting in a too light object. Therefore, in this case, a reduction is required.

Standard exposure when shooting bright and colored objects leads to the fact that the frame is obtained dark or light, less often - balanced in color. To avoid corrupted frames, an increase in exposure is also required - then the frame will be bright. In addition, for example, if a certain color is prevalent in the photo, manual adjustment may also be required. So, for purple and orange colors, it is desirable to increase the exposure by 0.5 values, for pink - by 1 step.

Correct color rendering

White balance is the key to the correct color transfer by the camera, which any camera owner should know about. Having understood what the exposition is, how to properly set it up and when to use it, you should learn about the automatic possibilities of cameras, thanks to which you get a live photo with the right balance of colors. So, using the daylight setting will help fix subjects in sunlight with maximum transmission of all tones. Setting the shadow mode will not fix in the frame an unnecessary blue tint, which almost always reflects from the sky in the shade. Street shooting in cloudy weather requires compensation for brightness, so that the object did not have a bluish (as is standard in such lighting), but a yellowish, that is, a brighter shade. The greenish light that appears under fluorescent lighting can also be removed by using the automatic shooting mode settings on the camera.
