What is a "run"? Is it a load or a privilege?

Globalization not only mixes people from different countries, but also makes them learn new terms and concepts. They are waiting for us at every step. Take for example the process of electing power. If you look at it carefully, you will definitely run into the word "run". This is not a Russian, but a term introduced from the French language. Therefore, our brain does not connect it with any specific images, which leads to confusion or misunderstanding. However, the very notion of "running" is not some kind of democratic innovation. Elections existed in the USSR, and the older generation took part in them.

Definition and interpretation

Let's start by parsing the translation of the word "run". It is a term derived from the French balloter, and the latter, in turn, is formed from the ballotte, which in translation means "small ball". In past centuries, traditionally they voted not by dropping ballot papers into ballot boxes. In the election procedure, balls of different colors were used. This method of revealing the opinion of the majority, of course, was practiced even before the introduction of the popular will. The principle of the plebiscite expanded the audience, and the term remained. To stand for election is to nominate one's candidacy, to offer for holding an elective office. And let the word foreign, but it has been used for a long time in the Russian language. It is believed that it appeared in the literature from the beginning of the eighteenth century, it was already possible to get used to it.

Process description

Just to understand what it means to run is not enough. After all, this is not an object, but a whole process. This term is used to describe what happens at different levels. The public process - elections - we already mentioned, but there are others. For example, in some organizations, the leader is also defined by all its members, as well as the president in a democratic state. At the party meeting, they vote for candidates for leaders (leaders). At the same time, each of the applicants must put forward their candidacy, that is, run for office. Thus, any process that is the formation of a general decision regarding personalities begins with the initiative of applicants. And this is the balloting.

A person studies the requirements for candidates for a given post, decides whether he can match them. Next, he needs to come up with an idea, work out a program to attract those who make the decision. And only at the last stage this person declares his initiative. Maybe in reality it happens differently, but theoretically running is also taking responsibility for other people. To understand this, you can again refer to the example. Adult citizens regularly choose their power. For whom do they vote?

Who is running for deputy?

The legislation of the country answers this question. It is necessary to know that democracy has introduced many principles and ideas into society. Among them - the regulation of any social activity. That is, rules are developed that are approved by the collegial body, laws are obtained. All citizens are obliged to follow them, they can not retreat and break. For example, the legislation of the Russian Federation regulates who is running for deputies, as follows. Any citizen of a country who has reached the age of twenty-one can apply for the position. The right is granted to all, regardless of gender, religious and political beliefs, place of residence and race. It is forbidden to be elected to deputies to people:

  • Having a criminal record;
  • Citizens of another state;
  • Deprived, according to the current legislation, of legal capacity;
  • Serving sentence.

Another applicant for the legislator's portfolio needs to collect a certain number of "signatures". These are the recommendations of voters collected in a statement, the form of which is approved by a special body (CEC). The same criteria should be observed for people who want to run for mayors. In practice, candidates for city chiefs still need to have a clear program for the development of the region, otherwise no one will vote for them.

Who can run for president?

The answer to this question should be sought in the Constitution. If there is a presidential post in the country, then the main law necessarily describes it. So, in Russia, a citizen who has reached the age of 35 can claim as the head of the country. In addition, the legislation requires that this person lived in Russia for at least ten years. The candidate must be supported by at least two million citizens (the same signatures). But, perhaps most importantly, this person needs to have a clear, understandable, meaningful development program, so that people support him. The president of the Russian Federation is elected by popular vote, which means that every person needs to be trusted. And this is not easy.
