What does paradise look like in different religions

People have always sought the answer about what awaits them after death: is there heaven and hell, is there a soul, do we die definitively or will we be reborn? At present, there are 4 main religions on Earth : Christianity (Catholic and Orthodox), Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, and hundreds of religious movements, as well as many small and large sects. And each promises to the righteous a life in paradise, and to sinners ineffable infernal torments.

What does a Christian paradise look like?

According to the Christian canons, the afterlife is divided into two stages: before the second coming of Jesus, the souls are in heaven and hell, each according to their earthly deeds. And after the advent of sinners remain in their original place, and the righteous will return from heaven to the changed and blessed Earth. In both Orthodox and Catholic books, paradise is described rather sparingly. The most complete picture can be learned from the "Revelations of John the Theologian", which tells of a city of pure gold and precious stones, through the streets of which "the saved nations" walk, and where there is never night. About what the human soul will do, almost nothing is said, but a line from the Bible: "... for in the resurrection they neither marry nor get married," suggests the impossibility of any sexual relations in the afterlife.

What does the Muslim paradise look like?

In Islam, a blessed posthumous existence is provided for all righteous men and women. In the view of Muslims, the faithful after death will enter a wonderful oasis, with rivers full of milk and honey, green gardens and pure innocent guris. And besides, the whole believer will reunite with their loved ones: wives with husbands, parents with children.

What the Hebrews Look Like

In Judaism, very little is said about paradise: there is such a thing as Eden, in which righteous souls are waiting to return to Earth, where they will receive eternal life. Sinners are waiting for nothingness.

What does Buddhist paradise look like?

Buddhism sharply differs from other world religions in that it does not define "good" and "bad" deeds. This belief teaches us to understand the connections between cause and effect, when a person is himself a judge, and only on the awareness of his current life will the future of rebirth depend. Therefore, Buddhists do not have heaven and hell, and eternal existence is represented in the form of an endless chain of reincarnations. There is such a thing as "nirvana," but this is not a place, but rather a state of mind.

Paradise in mythology

The ancient peoples also imagined existence after death in different ways:

- Slavs: Bird and Serpent Irius (respectively - heaven and hell). Birds of Ichri each fall fly birds, from there they bring the souls of newborns;

- the Scandinavians: the glorious Valhalla, where the souls of warriors fall and where the endless feast is;

- the ancient Greeks meant only torments for sinners, for all others - a disembodied silent existence on the fields of sorrow.

Undoubtedly, the description of paradise in many religions echoes, there are only small differences in details. But on the question "is there a paradise in reality" everyone should answer himself - this knowledge can not be obtained scientifically, one can only believe or not believe.
