Welded flooring: technical characteristics, production features, application

One of the universal building materials used in the construction of household, industrial and commercial facilities is welded flooring. In fact, these are metal gratings of high strength. They are resistant to any physical impact, are not afraid of moisture and are easily mounted. The flooring is made of steel strips welded into the grate by covering rods.

Production technology

When assembling the flooring, 3 types of elements are used:

  • Bearing strips. These elements provide high strength and reliability of the material. They also determine the length of the flooring.
  • Covering twisted rods. It is a connecting element that unites all in a single construction.
  • Framing. It can be made both from the strip and from the profile. From the type of frame depends on how the modules will be installed.

For the production of flooring, only stainless or low-carbon steels are used. Usually they are sorts 1.4404, V4A, V2A, St 52 and St 37.

To assemble the welded flooring, it is necessary to cut the binding rods to the specified length and press them into the cover strips. This operation is performed under high pressure - up to 1000 kN, while the elements are connected in parallel by means of electric welding. This technology provides the highest strength of the material.

Later, if necessary, in the product make holes and cutouts, giving it the desired shape. Then the edging of the edges is fixed. This stage of work completes the production. Welded flooring is subjected to additional anti-corrosion treatment, it also provides decorative material. For this purpose, the grate is chrome-plated, painted or hot-dip galvanized.

If necessary, the anti-skid teeth can be installed on the carrier strips. Such a flooring is indispensable in the areas of movement of pedestrians and equipment in ice, heavy rainfall or oil spills.

Finished welded modules can have different shapes, if desired, you can choose the option with the desired finish of the surface or the size of the cells.

Often buyers, choosing between all-metal structures and welded decks, give preference to the latter. After all, they are:

Such qualities make welded flooring indispensable in construction. It is used both for erecting structural components of structures, and for creating design elements, facing facades. From the modules, they collect platforms and ladders, bridges and platforms, lay out tracks for them.

The welded flooring is very effective as a dirt protective coating. It allows you to clear the shoes of dirt by 50%. In this case, garbage does not accumulate on the surface of the modules and wakes up into cells, where it can be easily removed. In addition, the modules provide excellent grip with the soles in the ice. Therefore, decking is used when decorating entrances to rooms with high attendance.
