Vélez Vélez is a description of the variety

Seedless varieties of grapes, which are very popular among gardeners, have been grown since ancient times. Every year, breeders successfully remove new varieties with almost imperceptible, underdeveloped bones.

Everyone who wants to have a productive vineyard on his plot, it makes sense to plant kishmish (seedless). We will talk about an interesting variety of this crop further. We learn in more detail what the Veles grapes are, the description of which is given in the article below.

Class of seedlessness

In Zaporozhye in 2009, VV Zagorulko (a national breeder) was bred by crossing Russola and Sophia sorts seedless form of grapes, called Velez. This year was notable for unusual weather conditions. The mass of rudiments (rudiments) of seeds at the same time deviated from the usual in the big direction and in kishmish varieties. The more the rudiments are larger, the culture has a higher class of seedlessness.

With respect to the definition of this indicator, studies are still conducted for this variety: according to one result, it is classified as a third class, while for others it is classified as the fourth. The peculiarities of this variety are studied in the south of Belarus.

Flowers of a plant

Vineyards Veles, photo of which is presented in this article, the bushes are vigorous. The vine in it ripens thoroughly, almost to the full length of the branch. It is easy enough to root the cuttings, while up to four flowers appear on the first vegetative shoot. In this variety they are hermaphrodite, or bisexual, containing stamens and pistils. Despite the fact that the flower is well pollinated, additional pollination is also carried out to increase the yield. This contributes to an increase in this indicator by 20 percent.

Berries and bunches

Grapes Veles has very large clusters, branched, medium looseness. Their weight reaches 3 kilograms. Bunches have a conic, sometimes cylindrical shape. In this case, the berries of this variety are also large, their weight reaches 5 grams.

In conditions of high humidity, they can rot and strongly crack. But in dry weather they hang on the bush for a month and a half, while they do not lose taste, do not get drunk, do not wither. The bunch of the bunch is very fragile, while the berries hold tight.

Maturation period

The grape variety of Veles has an early maturity period. The full maturity of berries and the moment of bud blossoming on average divides 100 days. Growing grapes on the ground, the main crop can be harvested in early August. In this case, for this variety is characteristic the occurrence of stepsons with bunches. By the beginning of October they provide the second wave of harvest.

Frost resistance

In the fruit kidney of the vine grapes of this hybrid, the level of frost resistance is -21 ° C, which is not lower than that of other varieties. Veles must be grown in the conditions of sheltering the root-bush bushes and seedlings, and the method of film tunnels used in winter. Vine growers say that the main eyes of this culture in such conditions do not freeze.

Resistance to diseases

To date, the resistance of the variety Velez to various fungal infections remains in the study stage. Resistance to downy mildew - mildew, the main disease of grapes that is grown on the open ground, is 3.5 points. The same figure is also equal to the indicator of resistance to oidium - another fungal infection that affects the green parts of the plant.

Care and Growth

Veles is a vigorous form of culture. To accelerate the ripening of berries, increase the size of the brush and improve the quality of the product, the vine is cut into 6-8 eyes, sometimes even shorter. The yield is stable and high. Saplings are usually sold in a vaccinated or proprietary form.

Benefits

The variety of Velez grapes has a number of advantages. Its positive characteristics include frost resistance, which is comparable with the performance of other popular varieties. This plant undergoes no effects of frost down to -21 ° C, although the shelter of the film for the winter will not hurt the bushes. Excessive moisture during fruiting can badly affect the yield. There have been cases when berries rotted or cracked. The plant requires a spring average pruning up to six eyes. During the ripening of the fruit in the bush, stepchildren are formed, which also yield, but later - by the middle of autumn. In addition, it is established that such grapes are well kept and transport transport is fine.

Vélez Vélez: rewards

In Simferopol in 2010, an international competition was held, which was called the "Golden Bunch of Grapes." Variety Velez was able to win 2 gold medals, which were awarded by the Professional Tasting Commission and the People's Tasting Commission.

So, we can sum up and say that the Velez grape has excellent taste, unpretentiousness and high yield.
