Veigela is a shrub that has a height of 30 cm to 3 m. The bush is distinguished by its ascending shoots. The foliage of the plant has a bright green color. Leaves have unusual pubescence on both sides, located on veins. There is a great variety of varieties of this plant. This beautifully flowering shrub quite unpretentious, can grow even on stony and infertile soils, although it grows better on well-moistened, friable and fertile lands. In the wild, this plant is found in the Ussuri region, North Korea and China.

Weigel - a shrub with large, unusual, very beautiful, drooping, tubular flowers. They can be single, but they can also be collected in inflorescences in several pieces on one peduncle. The peculiarity of this shrub is that it can bloom twice a year, namely in spring and early autumn. It is also noteworthy that the period of flowering of the bush is very long - up to a month, therefore, having planted a veigel, you can enjoy its flowering for a long time. Color of flowers is very unusual. So, in one flower can be combined several shades of color. Most often they are painted in pink or red, including a variety of shades, but there are other varieties of wagelas that have white, lilac and yellow flowers. The flowers of this shrub have an amazing smell, which during flowering is carried on many meters.

Vejela - shrub, which looks great in any planting, both in solitary and in group. Even the faded bush looks very decorative, because it has a spreading and powerful crown with beautiful leaves. Often the veigel is grown as hedgerows.

Some varieties of wagel have a large crown, the height of which can reach 3 m and up to 4 m in diameter, therefore, when planting them in plantings with other plants, it is necessary to take into account the characteristics of each variety. There are also shrubs with leaves, painted not only in green, but also in brown. Some varieties have green leaves with white spots. They are all very decorative and look great in group plantings.

Vejela Nana Variegata is a dwarf shrub variety, differing from others with its white-and-variegated leaves. Flowers of this variety have a white-pink or crimson color. They are collected in elegant inflorescences, in which there can be up to 4 pieces of flowers. The peculiarity of this sort of wagel is that it grows very slowly. It is recommended for growing on alpine hills and in stony gardens.

The Bristol Ruby variety of Veigel is very beautiful, its height reaches 3 m, and the width usually does not exceed 2 m in diameter. This is a powerful, spreading shrub, which is very beautifully hanging shoots. Buds have a dark red color, and blossoming flowers are bright ruby (hence the name of the variety). The bush has a dense crown, bright green leaves, which fall only in late autumn. This variety is quite good tolerates frosts, but still it is better to cover for the winter. It grows well in the lighted areas and tolerates penumbra. The best soil is fertile, well moistened. After the end of flowering, like any other veygel, the shrub requires pruning shoots.

Cultivating various varieties of vegels in your garden, you can achieve a diverse and long flowering. Planting these bushes, it should be borne in mind that the plant likes good lighting, although there are also shade-tolerant varieties. Weigel tolerates frosts rather well, but it is better to use winter shelters in the northern regions of the country. For this, the shrub is tied and, if possible, pressed to the ground, then covered with various heaters (lapnik, bulrush, lutrasil, spunbond).
