The roots and leaves of barberry contain a very rare plant extract called berberine, which can only be obtained from plant material and can not be synthesized. This substance has a strong hemostatic and choleretic, excellent anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect.

By planting a purple-colored barberry on your site, you will always have at hand an excellent remedy for strengthening the vessels. Its leaves have all the properties of barberry and, in addition, contain a large amount of vitamin R. The fruits of barberry help with vomiting in pregnant women and diarrhea, jaundice and liver diseases.

The most important thing is to properly plant the barberry. Care of the plant in this case will not be burdensome for you. For seedlings, you should choose a sunny and well drained place, rich in fertile and loose soil. If clay soil predominates on your site and groundwater is close , but you really want to have such a shrub, you will have to create favorable conditions for it on your own. From excess water, barberry will die, and on heavy soil it will grow poorly and bear fruit.

The minimum time during which the bush should be well illuminated is about five hours. The lack of sunlight in decorative species with purple leaves will change the brightness of the color or make it green. For planting in the shade, only the barberry of the Amur is suitable.

You can multiply barberry seeds, but it is best to buy ready-made seedlings, adapted to your area in the nearest "Zelenchoz". Barbaris blooms for the fourth year after planting. Transplant the shrub to a permanent place in the first four years. The older he becomes, the stronger he gets sick and the worse he suffers from a transplant.

It is problematic to multiply the planting of barberry by dividing the bush. To do this, you must first dig out the entire bush, cut its main root in half and plant several seedlings. After such procedures, the bush is ill from several months to a year.
