Ukrainian rock bands: names, soloists and photos

Many Ukrainian rock bands are known not only within their own country, but also in the states of the near abroad: in Russia, Belarus, Poland, Lithuania. There are among them "untwisted" collectives, whose members are recorded in the best studios in Europe. At the same time, there are musicians who barely find money to release the next album. So who are they - Ukrainian rockers?

Scriabin

This group is one of the oldest in Ukraine. The history of the band started back in 1989, but ended with the death of the band's frontman in 2015. At the moment, the dissolution of the musicians has not been announced, but there are no comments on forthcoming creative projects either.

"Scriabin" is a band that composed songs exclusively in Ukrainian. Sam Kuzma "Scriabin" - the vocalist and the project leader - and in his life also spoke exclusively in Ukrainian. But this did not prevent the group from gaining some fame in Russia and neighboring countries. For example, in 2011 Skryabin successfully performed with a big concert in St. Petersburg.

Creative team "Scriabin" can be considered extremely prolific, as for 25 years of existence 18 albums have been released. Absolute hits are the songs "Spi sobi sama", which became the soundtrack to the film "Barbie's Wedding", a duet with Irina Bilyk "Movchati", compositions "Shmata" and "Starі photografii".

The music style of the project is difficult to unambiguously identify. At the beginning of the activity it was an electronic alternative like Depeche Mode. Then the band went on to perform pop rock.

"The Ocean of Elsa"

There are cult bands on the Ukrainian rock scene. Ukrainian rock bands, whose names in Russia and Poland are known only by a certain number of people, still can not beat the popularity records established by the Ocean Elzy project.

Songs and music the group performs in the style of indie and pop rock, and sings exclusively in Ukrainian. But this is the unique case when listeners do not care what language sounds. "Ocean Elzy" is the only Ukrainian rock project that gives concerts in the Kremlin.

The band members record their albums in the best studios in Germany and London. And everything began very modestly in the city of Lviv in 1994. Svyatoslav Vakarchuk - the soloist and the leader of the project - has no musical education, and in the specialty is a physicist. However, the group "Okean Elzy", whose songs are loved by millions of people, can not be imagined without Vakarchuk's soulful vocals.

Absolute hits of the project are the songs "Without fight", "There, we are not mute", "Obimi", "Everything will be good".

«SKAY»

If you list the young Ukrainian rock bands, you can not fail to mention the project "SKAI", which plays in the styles of pop rock and alternative rock.

The group broke into the air of Ukrainian radio stations in 2005 with a live music set on the "M1" TV channel. Lyric collective "S.K.A.Y." fell in love with the audience, so the project was immediately found and the producer - the general director of the famous label Lavina Music.

In 2005, SKAJ again appeared in TV and radio broadcasts with the song "You Can Strike Into You". In parallel, on the music channel "M1" there is a video for this song. Then there are such hits as "Te scho treba", "Best friend", "Ti got mixed up".

For 14 years of existence the group has released 4 albums and 22 video clips.

"Little Tsaches"

Ukrainian rock bands often gravitate toward the genre of indie rock. Kiev project "Krikhitka Tsaches" most of their songs are released in this genre. In 2005, the collective acquired a lot of fans after the rotation on television clips for the compositions "Detail", "At the First Misi" and "Angela, Yak I". The sound of the band was truly revolutionary. In addition, the vocalist was a woman, which is rare for Ukrainian alternative groups.

And the history of the collective began with the fact that Alexander Koltsova recorded home songs of her own composition under the piano, two strings of guitar and a microphone. Then these songs went to her friends, and soon the musicians found the project.

For a long time the project performed on Kiev and Lviv clubs, until they signed a contract with the label Comp music / EMI. However, after the release of the first album, the members of the collective and the label began a conflict that ended in legal proceedings. The dispute was resolved in favor of "Krikhetka Tsaches", who "won" copyright on their own music. After that, unfortunately, not one label wanted to have a business with the team, so for the release of the next album, the musicians collected money on their own.

Despite the fact that the band exists since 1999, there are only 2 albums and several singles in his piggy bank. However, the uniqueness of their music is beyond doubt.

"Antibodies"

Every year on the stage there are new Ukrainian rock bands. The signature sound is different one more "beginner", whose name is "Antibodies".

The members of the team know each other almost from school. But the group was created only after 5-6 years, when all graduated from various universities, and then realized that they wanted to study music. In 2007, the group "Antibodies" takes part in the TV show "Chance", produced by Natalia Mogilevskaya and Kuzma Scriabin. After that, the first track of the group "I will not forget Persha Nich" gets on the air of radio stations. In the same year, the group goes on their first tour of Ukraine.

In 2008, the group returns to the air: this time, the channel "M1" begins to broadcast their video "Buduvu". The song becomes a hit, and the band has the first album "Buduvu". Subsequently, the light saw three more releases - "Choose", Special, "Over the Poles".

The style of the team tends to pop rock, but there are elements of post-punk, rock-n-roll. At the moment, 18 video clips have been filmed for the project.

Green Gray

Popular Ukrainian rock bands, as a rule, started their career in the 90's. "Green-Gray" is no exception. The project was created in 1993.

The "Green-Gray" hit "Mazafak" in 1997 was not known except by someone who did not watch TV at all. For 22 years of existence, only 5 albums have been released, but the group makes great strides in terms of tours. For example, not every collective can boast of having performed on the same stage with Lenny Kravitz, The Prodigy, A-ha and Whitesnake.

And although the guys characterize their creativity as a joke "UkrPop" for a joke, but they lead a concrete rocker life: there are a lot of myths surrounding this band, more than once the band members were caught in the use of light drugs, and the bassist "Green GREEN" was even put in Prison for 9 years for growing cannabis.
