UAZ "Patriot" car (diesel, 51432 ZMZ): review, specifications, description and reviews

"Patriot" is a medium-sized SUV that is serially produced at the UAZ plant since 2005. At that time, the model was quite crude, and that's why it was constantly being updated every year. To date, there have been many modifications of this SUV, including "Patriot" (diesel, ZMZ-51432). What is remarkable, the first diesels were put up with Iveco. However, in view of the many technical flaws, they were removed from production. At the moment the main diesel unit for the Patriot is ZMZ-51432. Interesting Facts

It should be noted that the predecessor of the well-known "Patriot" is UAZ "Simbir", which had a number index of 3162. The car was produced from 2000 to 2005. Interestingly, Patriot became the first car in UAZ, which was equipped with air conditioning, airbags, multimedia system, ABS and other "benefits of civilization." By the way, it was the "Patriot" that was used for the first time to use a single fuel tank system (previously there were two separate ones - not the most thoughtful design).

Design

The appearance of the Ulyanovsk SUV has a dynamic and aggressive silhouette. The machine is recognizable from afar by characteristic chopped shapes and crystal "eye-catching" optics.

Massive wheel arches add to the SUV brutality. No, this is not a crossover, but a real male, ram jeep with all-wheel drive and locks (and not electronic, like "overseas" competitors). For 2017, the car looks very decent.

As for the overall dimensions, they practically do not differ from the predecessor "Simbir". So, the length of the UAZ ZMZ-51432 SUV "Patriot" is 4.78 meters, the width is 1.9 meters without taking into account the mirrors (with them - 21 centimeters more), the height is 2 meters. Ground clearance at the factory "Patriot" is 21 cm. But this is not the limit. Now ready-made sets for the suspension lift are being sold. So, in the arches calmly fit 33-inch mud tires. But with the standard clearance and stock wheels the car behaves well off-road. It is not inferior to the famous "goat" on the characteristics of patency.

Let's look inside the Ulyanovsk Patriot. Interior design deserves attention. Inside there is a modern panel, a center console and a multimedia steering wheel. Such at UAZ have not yet been used. In the center is a large multimedia display. However, it is available only in the maximum configuration. Inside there were chrome and aluminum inserts (more precisely, plastic, made "under aluminum"). The car is large enough mirrors.

Due to the high landing, the reviews indicate a good visibility. Mirrors and the dashboard are very informative. Between the front seats now appeared armrest. By the way, the chairs themselves are sheathed with natural leather. But again, in the basic configuration, it replaces the fabric. In the cabin there was a single-zone climate control. On the door cards - convenient buttons for controlling the power windows (they are here on the electric drive). Well, with design "Ulyanovsk" nobly tried. However, the owners' reviews mark the former solid plastic. Still, noise insulation requires improvements.

Technical characteristics - what was before?

As we noted earlier, the first diesel modifications of UAZ were equipped with a turbodiesel engine of the brand IVECO F1A. He developed a power of 116 horsepower and gave 270 Nm of torque. What is noteworthy, the same engine was put on the low-tonnage trucks Fiat Ducato. But on the UAZ this motor did not get accustomed - either from out-of-date characteristics, or from poor-quality assembly. The owners have responded badly about this motor.

What now?

At the moment, the IVECO F1A engine is not being installed on UAZ Patriot. Instead, the Ulyanovsk plant adjusted the deliveries of the power unit 51432 ZMZ. The engine with a cylinder capacity of 2.3 liters develops 114 horsepower. However, unlike the "Ivekovskiy", a more modern injection system is used here. At 51432 ZMZ fuel supply "Common Rail" was realized. This allowed to reduce fuel consumption and increase traction-performance characteristics.

Diesel engine ZMZ-51432 has an aluminum block and a head, and also differs by the top arrangement of camshafts. The unit meets the Euro-4 emission standards. The engine uses a chain-drive gas distribution mechanism. On the valves there are hydraulic compensators of the gaps. The pressure on the nozzles is just colossal - 1450 bar. Also on the engine 51432 ZMZ the turbine is used, that allows to receive much greater efficiency.

How economical?

All motorists know that a diesel engine, whatever it is, will be an order of magnitude more economical than a gasoline engine. The diesel ZMZ-51432 was not an exception. Reviews say that the city's fuel consumption is up to 12 liters (although according to the passport data the car fits into the "top ten"). But still it's much smaller than the gasoline one. On UMZ-shnyh motors "Patriot" was incredibly voracious. The city "ate" up to twenty liters of gasoline. As for the 51432 ZMZ unit, its minimum consumption in real conditions is 8.5 liters (on the cruising track - 80 km / h). The owners' comments say that if you have a priority in economy, surely you should pay attention to the diesel modification of the Patriot.

How's it going?

Even before the release of the diesel version of the motorists' reviews noted the weak performance of gasoline engines. And all, even three-liter. The car clearly lacked power, it was necessary to twist it to four or five thousand. How does the car with the ZMZ-51432 unit behave on the road? "Patriot" differs more frisky dynamics of dispersal. The twisting moment is accessible practically from below, and on top - the turbine picks up. The maximum torque is available in the range of two thousand revolutions. If you press the accelerator pedal at this moment, you can feel a sharp pick-up. However, after 80, the thrust disappears. The machine is very slow in the range of 80-100. By the way, the maximum speed of the car is 135 kilometers per hour.

True, this is not comfortable for the "Patriot" speed. Firstly, the machine is very difficult to dial. Secondly, hard plastic in the cabin makes itself felt. Plus to all - the characteristic roar of a diesel engine, which is difficult to remove even a few layers of noise insulation. The owners' comments say that the car clearly does not have the sixth gear. At 90 kilometers per hour the engine is already gaining 3,000 revolutions (and for the diesel it's a red line). By the way, the gearbox here is used from a gasoline engine (not the most technological solution). Therefore, it is possible that UAZ will be further developed.

Diesel off-road

Perhaps its main advantage here. Unlike gasoline engines, 51432 ZMZ is better at showing itself in the absence of roads. Wherever a great moment was required, let this unit be pulled in, but confidently pulled the car out of the trap. The petrol engines often had to "play" with the clutch, and the traction disappeared very quickly. Diesel for off-road - the most it is necessary, note the feedback of the owners.

Constructive shortcomings of the Patriot

Drivers consider the low location of the bridges to the negative moments of the "Patriot" design.

And if on the 469th the problem was solved by installing military bridges, then such a scheme would not work. Also on the "Patriot" there was a problem with the doors - the opening angle is too small. This problem, perhaps, haunts UAZ since Soviet times, when the same "goat" appeared. Also, the quality of sound insulation has not improved. Already from the moment of purchase it is necessary to glue the salon yourself.

Prices and complete sets

The new UAZ "Partiot" will be available in several trim levels:

  • "Standard".
  • "Comfort".
  • "Privilege".
  • "Style".

For the base will have to pay 809 thousand rubles. This includes a safety cushion, 16-inch forged wheels, hydraulic booster, power windows and ABS. The top equipment is available for 1 million 30 thousand rubles.

This price includes 18-inch alloy wheels, a complete audio system with a 7-inch multimedia screen and six speakers, a rear-view camera, an ESP system, front and rear parking assist, heated seats, climate control and even steering heating. What can I say, a very good level of equipment from the "Patriot". The only issue is the price. After all, the secondary market has a lot of good copies for a lower cost.

So, we found out what kind of reviews and technical characteristics diesel UAZ "Patriot". As you can see, the power unit proved to be very good. The motor is economical, it pulls well and is unpretentious in maintenance. Perhaps, this is the best unit for this type of car.
