Two-story wagons. "RZD" plans to please passengers

A country like Russia, due to its large spaces, requires special solutions in the field of transport. In particular, they include two-story cars. Russian Railways, however, did not find anything better in this regard, how to take advantage of the idea that appeared in the Russian Empire even before the October Revolution. At that time, Tver and Sormovo plants produced rolling stock with an additional floor. Also attempts to transport more people to a unit of wheel sets were made in the USSR when such trains cruised between Ryazan and Moscow, Kovel and Lvov in the Chelyabinsk region.

In what directions is it supposed to start two-story cars? Russian Railways wants to use the novelty for trips from Moscow to Voronezh, Tula, Smolensk and the Black Sea destinations, which is especially important in the summer, since you can get to Russian resorts by train for less money than by plane. The south will be run by wagons with lying beds, and in some other cities - with sedentary. The Wagon Works in Tver plans to produce economy and business class models. In the first variant, 129 people can be transported, and in the second there is an increased level of comfort. For example, in the back of the seats in front of the passenger built-in displays for watching movies.

What parameters do two-story cars have? "RZD" ordered the development of models, which, thanks to a special anti-corrosion alloy, will serve for about forty years. Special surface treatment of the composition allows to achieve a low level of air resistance, which will save energy consumption at a speed of about 160 kilometers per hour. For the convenience of passengers everywhere will be equipped with information boards, and also provided access to the compartment with the help of electronic keys.

What else are interesting two-story cars? "RZD" for customers of class SV (a car on thirty special coupe) will be able to offer a shower, and disabled persons with accompanying persons will be provided with appropriate places and lifts. Unlike standard trains, increased trains will be equipped with tight transitions between cars, which entails the absence of a tie-bar. Each car will be equipped with three toilet rooms with a standard set of items, a wardrobe, as well as a cooler with accessories for coffee and tea.

The two-story railcars of RZD inside the project look pretty nice. Color solutions are matched in beige and blue tones, positively influencing the mood of passengers. The total height of the car is about 5.25 meters, while each floor is forty centimeters lower than in a conventional railway unit (2.1 meters against 2.5). Stability of the composition on the way is provided by special springs.

We will not be the first country that nowadays uses two-story railcars of Russian Railways. Photos from China, the US, Germany show that this idea is very viable and allows you to save money by transporting more passengers at lower costs for maintenance and energy.
