Tui "Khoseri": description, landing and care. Nursery Tui

Thuya is a coniferous evergreen plant belonging to the Cypress family. In Europe it was imported from North America in 1536. Among the many varieties of special love among gardeners was awarded thuya "khosery" - a dwarf bush with a spherical crown.

Description

This is a Polish variety, which is miniature in size compared to other species: the height of the plant is on the average 70-90 cm. The growth is very slow and does not exceed 5 cm per year.

Tuyu western "khosery" is a multi-barrel shrub with straight, dense shoots, forming a spherical crown. They are covered with a dark green, reminiscent of scales pine needles, the change of which occurs every 3 years. This process is gradual, so the renewal of the krone proceeds imperceptibly. The length of each needle is from 2 to 4 mm. Its green color is unstable. From late autumn until spring comes a golden brown or salad color.

Single-colored single flowers appear only on the top of the shoot. In their place, small (up to 1 cm in length) buds of ovoid form are formed.

Wood contains brown, yellow and red fibers. Despite the fact that it is rather soft, its strength is very high. From such wood it would turn out quite good furniture. But, unfortunately, can not be used on an industrial scale tuya "khosery" - how "fast" grows this shrub, described above.

With age, the globular shape of the plant changes to a more flattened one, and the cortex becomes dark brown in color and covered with longitudinal cracks.

A place in the garden

Thuja is hardy and unpretentious. It can grow beautifully anywhere. However, under more suitable conditions, its decorative qualities will be much higher. It is better to choose for landing well-lit, but slightly shaded places where there are no drafts and wind. Under the influence of direct sunlight, thuja "khoseri" can wither, and with lack of light, lose its splendor and beautiful shade. It is important to make sure before planting that the neighboring plants do not cover their bush with a shadow.

The most suitable soil will be peat and clay, moderately nutritious sandy loam. When landing in heavy ground, a good drainage layer should be created. Its thickness should not be less than 15 cm. Ground water close to the surface will not damage the plant.

Soil preparation

To improve the soil in the pit intended for planting, it is necessary to add other components. For example, clay soil should be diluted with peat and sand, added in equal amounts. For a sandy mixture of peat and turf land. Loam and sand are added to the peat soil.

Crushed stone is poured into the bottom of the landing pit, which will serve as a drainage. Then poured the prepared soil.

Tui Planting

The best time for this is autumn or spring. In the first case, the plant will give a rapid growth after the snow has descended. Any nursery Tui sells seedlings in containers containing a complex of fertilizers. Such plants can be planted safely even in the middle of summer.

For planting in a pit filled with prepared soil, a hole is made, larger in size than the root system of the seedling: about 30 cm wider and deeper by 15 cm. The plant is placed in the center, straightening the roots. The root neck should be 3 cm above the ground level. Then cover the soil mixture, lightly pressing it down and compacting it. In the trunk circle, a small edge is made from the ground, which does not allow water to flow out of the root system during irrigation. The soil around the bush immediately after planting is mulched using pine bark or chips. This will help to avoid drying and overheating of the soil.

Watering

Tuya "Khosery" - a plant that evaporates a lot of moisture, so it responds to watering very well. In the first month after planting, soil regeneration should not be allowed. Watering must be done once a week, using a bucket of water for one plant. In hot weather, this can be done more often. It is best to water the bush in the morning or evening hours.

It is very effective procedure such as sprinkling. After it, the plant simply changes: the needles acquire freshness, juiciness and fills the air with an amazing aroma.

Lack of moisture leads to the fact that the crown of the crown starts to turn yellow, and too many cones are formed, which leads to loss of the decorative appearance of the plant.

Feeding

They are extremely important for the normal development of the bush. Thuja spherical "khoseri", receiving a sufficient quantity of necessary substances, has a magnificent beautiful crown and much better tolerates winter cold.

And in the first two years of fertilizing the plant is not required. In the future, it is enough to make them at the beginning of each season. As a fertilizer, you can use compost or cow humus, replacing them with the top layer of earth around the bush. From above it is necessary to make up the pine bark.

Suitable are also complex phosphate-potassium fertilizers, especially for coniferous plants. The main thing when using them is to keep the dosage in order not to burn the roots.

Preparing for winter and pruning

Tui "Khosery" needs shelter from the snow. Frost does not fear this plant, it is much more dangerous for him other. Shrub shoots grow vertically, and snow accumulated on them during the winter forms a thick ice cap, capable of breaking twigs with its mass. In addition, not protected from sunlight, the crown is threatened with burns.

Many gardeners make the harness bush for the winter with ordinary kapron tights. They do not rot, and the smooth surface does not allow snow to linger and serves at the same time as a protective screen from the sun. The main thing - do not tighten too tightly so that the needles do not stick out. Ideal is shelter hut. With the help of wooden rails, a tripod is built, which is covered with burlap or spunbond.

Spring pruned dry and damaged shoots, which is repeated one more time during the season. They shorten the branches one-third.

Reproduction of Tui "Khoseri"

Both with the help of seeds, and with cuttings it is possible to grow this plant. In the first case, some varietal qualities are lost, so this method is rarely used. Seeds mature late in the autumn. They are left under snow for the whole winter. In spring the seeds are sprinkled with earth, wood chips are added from above. The sprouts that appeared are then in need of care for a very long time, and only become more durable for the third year. Their transplantation to a new location can be made only at the age of 5 years.

Reproduction by cuttings is much faster. Escape length of about 15 cm cut in spring with a sharp sharp knife, soaked in a potassium permanganate or growth stimulant and placed in a nutritious and moist soil at a small angle, to a depth of 5 cm. By autumn, the stalk is rooted. For the winter it is well concealed, in spring the young plant can already be transplanted.

However, the easiest way to grow a shrub is to buy a seedling. This is best done by visiting a professional nursery tui. They offer only pure and resistant to disease varieties.
