Physiological tremor

Strengthening of the physiological tremor causes toxic substances. An example of this is hand trembling with withdrawal symptoms (hangover) or with carbon monoxide poisoning. Some diseases of the endocrine glands, for example, increased functioning of the thyroid gland, adrenal gland disease, are also accompanied by a symptom such as hand tremor. The reasons for it in this case are associated with the release of a large amount of adrenaline into the blood. It causes trembling and a sharp decrease in glucose in the blood (hypoglycemia) in diabetes mellitus.

Pathological types of tremor

This tremor of the hands, whose causes are associated with lesion of the brainstem, subcortical structures or the cerebellum, is constant. With him often there are other neurological symptoms. More common are its following types:

1. Family, or essential, tremor. It appears in adults and elderly people, occasionally in childhood. In half the cases, a hereditary predisposition to this disease is established. The patients tremble their hands, the trembling of the head, tongue, and lower jaw can join. There are no other neurological disorders. In this disease, tremor of the hands and other muscle groups is enhanced by keeping the hands in a certain position. For this reason, it is called postural. The postural also includes physiological tremor.
2. Parkinson's disease. For this disease is characterized by the fact that at rest the patient's hands tremble, making circular movements, similar to the movements when rolling pills. At work, the jitter disappears. Tremor is accompanied by other neurological symptoms (gait alteration, slowed down, bound movements). The causes of the disease lie in the defeat of the subcortical formations of the brain. Tremor in Parkinson's disease is referred to a tremor of rest.
3. Tremor in lesions of the cerebellum and brainstem is intentional. This means that it is amplified at the end of a purposeful action. It manifests itself in large and sweeping movements. Many diseases cause such tremor of hands. The causes of it may be a tumor of the cerebellum or brain stem. It can also be traumas, multiple sclerosis, Konovalov-Wilson's disease, degenerative and vascular diseases.

If your hands are shaking, do not be shy. This does not mean that you are an alcoholic or a coward. As you can see, the reasons for this state can be different.
