Time of Troubles: Briefly on the Causes, Outcomes and Consequences

Time of Troubles. Briefly, the causes and consequences of this difficult period for our country will be described below. Russia was economically and physically devastated, the people lost faith in the true outcome. And yet the problems were solved, and a new (and last) dynasty ascended to the throne.

Time of Troubles: Briefly on the Causes

So, what were the main reasons? Probably, we can not forget about the reign of Ivan the Terrible. The tyrant and despot with his oprichnina and the unnecessary Livonian war did not just ruin the country, he brought social tensions into it . Strengthened this sensation Cornic drama, when the heir to the throne was killed. But all the same there are other reasons, which, undoubtedly, follow from the above prerequisites. First, it is a crisis of the dynasty and power (the same Ugly drama); Secondly, these are exacerbations in the social sphere, which were caused by a new decree on a five-year detachment of fugitive peasants (the decree further strengthened the enslavement of this section of the population); Thirdly, the beginning of the troubled time, briefly about the events of which will be discussed below, was marked by famine; Fourthly, Poland's great claims to the Russian throne. Thus, a large "bouquet" of factors in its totality gave a tremendous impetus, leading to a kind of collapse of the state.

Time of Troubles: briefly about major events

As it was said above, the beginning of the troubles was accompanied by a severe famine. Ironically, the population blamed the then tsar, Boris Godunov, who allegedly provoked God with his "lack of humanity," that is, that the throne should not be in his hands. Anyway, this ruler dies, and the difficult time for Russia begins. The country is going through several uprisings, after which False Dmitry the First appears. This figure will later become legendary. Surprisingly, the monarch's army also takes the side of this impostor, but this does not save him from death. Now comes the era of the boyar king. With it, the civil war in the country deepened. Vasily Shuisky ruled during the uprising of Ivan Bolotnikov, during the open intervention, as well as during False Dmitry II. The Tushino thief, as he was called, also enjoyed popularity among the people, but he also did not receive the proper support: a conspiracy was organized, which resulted in the murder of the impostor. But the boyar king is overthrown. Next comes the reign of Semiboyar. During this time, two people's militias rescue the capital of Russia and free it from the invaders. Later there will be national executions, as well as peace treaties with Poland and Sweden, which will secure the country's borders for some time.

The troubled time, briefly described above, led to the fact that a new dynasty was established on the Russian throne, the name of which is the Romanovs. Thanks to the Zemsky Sobor , a young tsar was chosen who persistently brought the state to stability. Thus, the consequences of the troubled times (briefly described in textbooks and manuals) have become questions for the thinking of the new government.
