Ballet art originated in the Renaissance in the princely palaces of Italy and during its existence repeatedly experienced crises. However, they managed to survive thanks to the appearance of talented choreographers, who created new directions and performances that help attract viewers. One of such devotees of the national ballet was Yevgeny Panfilov. He became a propagandist of free dance in our country in the late 70s of the last century and left behind a rich creative heritage.

Biography of the choreographer

Evgeny Alekseevich Panfilov was born in the Arkhangelsk region in 1955. After graduation, the future choreographer first entered a military high school, where he was to receive the profession of political worker, but at the age of 22 he decided to change his profession - he entered the State Institute of Arts and Culture in Perm. Later he studied at the choreography department of GITIS, and also took a course at the International School of Contemporary Choreography in North Carolina (USA).

Back in 1979, Panfilov created his first amateur dance group, which quickly gained popularity among young residents of Perm. Later, in 1987, the choreographer presented the audience with the new professional dance theater "Experiment". The performances staged by the choreographer during this period brought him fame far beyond Perm, as they were distinguished by the novelty that the viewer long waited for, tired of endless variations on the topic of classics. In 1991, the ballet of Yevgeny Panfilov was created, which after 9 years was given the status of state. In subsequent years, the team more than 10 times became the winner of the most prestigious theatrical awards, which is very rare when it comes to provincial collectives.

Panfilov's life was tragically interrupted at the age of 46, when he was killed in his apartment by an accidental acquaintance. A month before, the choreographer had managed to present his version of the ballet The Nutcracker, which critics called tragic, as it shows a world devoid of illusions and populated by gray malicious mice.

This dance group today is considered one of the most famous of the provincial ballet troupes of our country. And this is not surprising, since he repeatedly and with great success represented Perm at many national theatrical competitions. Thus, in 2006 the Panfilov Ballet won the Golden Mask Award for the one-act ballet Cage for Parrots created by the founder of the troupe.

Shortly before his death, the choreographer staged the ballet "Life is Beautiful!" On the stage of the Berlin Theater "Tempodrom". It was based on the music of the 7th Symphony by Dmitry Shostakovich and the works of Soviet songwriters of the 30-50's. Then this performance was reworked for the Perm troupe and was named "BlockAda".

In 1993, a unique choreographic troupe was created in Perm. Its members can be women, whose corporal fullness is combined with mobility and inner fire. As Yevgeny Panfilov himself admitted, "The Ballet of the Thick" was not created at all in order to shock the public. Being an irrepressible experimenter, Eugene Panfilov always tried to create something new. So, in May 2001, the choreographer founded the Fight Club Evgeny Panfilov, which included only dancers. At the same time, the premiere of the "Men's Rhapsody" program was held. The next important work of Panfilov's team was the show "Take me this ...", and then the audience was presented with a one-act ballet "Capitulation", in which the means of modern dance show a world mired in vice, rolling into the abyss and even not knowing how close it is to its doom.

Repertoire

All three groups that perform on the stage of the Panfilov Theater have an extensive and interesting repertoire. In particular, the performances of "8 Russian Songs", "Romeo and Juliet" and "Blockade" have been gathering full rooms for several years already. Despite the fact that the founder of the theater has long been dead, the traditions laid by him are carefully preserved. Those who visited the theater at the time when Panfilov was alive note that the performances put by him look all the same fresh, but there is a note of nostalgia in them.
