The variety that the Onion family possesses

Onion family includes about 30 genera, which contain about 650 plant species. They are common in all continents, except for Australia. Many species are inhabitants of the forest.

What are they, Onion?

The plant of the Onion family appears to be perennial, herbaceous and has a bisexual flower, which forms bulbs, roots that have a specific flavor. This smell is caused by the release of volatile oils - volatile oils, which have the property of destroying pathogens and other parasites. In this regard, the Onion family is known for a wide application in medicine. The root system consists of thin filiform and sometimes thickened roots.

How the Onions Bloom

The flower of the onion family is brought to the surface with the help of an arrow, which often has the appearance of a leafy stem. This is due to the fact that the inner leaves envelop the arrow up to its upper part. The leaves of the plants may have a different, dissimilar form. Thus, they can be arched, oval, linear, lanceolate. Some species have cuttings on which the leaves are located, in some they are absent. The flowers of the family are same-sex, they have corollas with perianth (white, blue, pink). Perianth have six petals, which can be fused or free. In addition, the flower consists of six stamens, one petal and three carpels.

Inflorescences are capitate multifloral umbrellas. After the ripening process has passed, the fetus is formed - the capsule, which is opened through the nests. Each capsule can have one or more seeds. The umbrella contains a large number of capsules, so a lot of seed is formed, and reproduction occurs mainly due to all the same seeds. They can be carried by the wind or in the process of eating animals.

Method number two

Family Onions, any of its representatives, has the ability to reproduce directly by bulbs. For the flowering process, rest is required, which is regulated by constant watering. Representatives of the class that grow in temperate latitudes, require a decrease in temperature for the flowering process, but for our indoor plants this condition is absolutely not necessary. Onions do not pass to the flowering process until a certain height is reached. If there is a need for rapid flowering, then the plant should be carefully fed. Fertilizers containing minerals are best, but for some representatives slurry will serve as the best additional fertilizer.

There is an opportunity to distinguish between different plants, relying on the appearance. Rounded and juicy are single bulbs, and those that grow from the common rhizome will be elongated and narrow.

Why are Onions used?

The Onion family has many representatives that are valuable and decorative. Certain types of mankind uses directly in food, as well as spices, spices and even as a medicine. Both leaves and bulbs contain vitamins and minerals. Few know that experts have more than one thousand varieties of only garden bow. Their taste can be spicy, sweet, semisweet.

The formula of the Onion family looks like this: * ♂♀ Р₃₊₃ А₃₊₃ G₍₃₎. Fruit - a box that is opened through the nests.

However, a science that is constantly evolving has found facts that have made it possible to single out plants in a separate class. One of the main signs is the smell.
