The universe of Harry Potter. Muggle is who?

It's hard to find someone who has not seen a Harry Potter movie, much less one who has not heard anything about him. The multimillion-dollar budget invested in the film adaptation of the book paid off with interest. More importantly, this story was able to create a new universe, with its rules and laws. But if the fans of the book know that the Muggle is a man without magical abilities, then for less enlightened people this concept is a mystery covered in darkness.

Naturally, there is no big trouble in such ignorance, but what to do in those cases when children enthusiastic about the film ask: "And who are the Muggles?"

A little about witchcraft in the world of Harry Potter

Not all people in the book of Joanne Rowling are able to use magic. It's not known where the first wizards came from, but as history develops, it becomes obvious that some of them dislike ordinary people - Muggles.

Perhaps the reason for this is that the Muggle is a man completely devoid of magical powers. He can not see, feel, let alone use objects with magic. Therefore, many wizards consider them weak and helpless, unable to compete with them.

In the film itself, there are no Muggles among the main characters. And yet, in the story, the viewer sometimes encounters muggle characters. For example, the children from the shelter, where he lived Tom Riddle. But most often the family appears on the screen Dursley, which takes care of Harry after the death of his parents. And although family members know that Potter is a magician, they themselves do not have such power.

Laws of heredity

Let the Muggle - it's a simple man, yet he is able to marry a magician or sorceress. Most likely, their child will be endowed with magic power, but the other wizards will consider him a half-breed. Moreover, some wizards, obsessed with the purity of blood, treat these children with open contempt.

But it is much worse for those who were born in a family, where both parents are muggles. Let it happen and it happened very rarely, but still takes place, afterwards such children are called muggle-born.

There is also a third type of children - squibs. They are born from the union of the two magicians, but they are completely devoid of magical power. For parents, this is a real grief, especially for those who keep the purity of blood from generation to generation.

Order of the Death Eaters

Let the wizards and muggles live side by side in the world invented by Joanne Rowling, the former are much higher on the hierarchical ladder. Some wizards and at all hate ordinary people, and even more so their children, born with a magical power.

Such hatred led to the founding of the Order of the Death Eaters, led by Volan de Mort. They believed in the dominance of purebred magicians and destroyed all who tried to prove the opposite. But the dark ruler himself was born a half-breed, because his father is a Muggle. This affected his ideas about the future of the magical world.

Thus, in the Harry Potter film, there is a certain division into classes that is akin to modern racism. As in reality, and in a fictitious world, the "defective" classes succumbed to frequent reprisals and humiliations, but, in the long run, the victory was won by the good. The magical world has changed for the better, including in its attitude to the muggles.
