In newborn babies, body temperature can be increased during several weeks of life and when measured in the armpits is 37-37.5 degrees C. Body temperature is finally normal only until the end of the first year of life of the baby.

Behavior and actions of parents when a child's temperature is high :

- do not panic;
- If possible, immediately contact the doctor and discuss all the necessary actions;
- You should provide the child with an abundant drink;
- if the temperature rise is detected in a child over 2 months old, but he is active, sleep and appetite are not disturbed, then one should calmly wait for the doctor to come;
- if the fever is accompanied by the coldness of the legs and hands, the pallor of the skin, then this can indicate hyperthermia syndrome, which occurs when the most serious violations in the body. In this case, it is necessary to reduce the temperature immediately;
- when febrile seizures occur, it is also necessary to urgently reduce the temperature. Since from convulsive contractions, even a cardiac arrest is possible.

The main methods of reducing the body temperature of the child:

1. Non-medicamentous - are quite effective especially for infants, due to the close and superficial location of the vascular system. Provide a fast, but for a short period of time, a drop in body temperature. They include:
- wiping with cool water;
- compress from water with the addition of a small amount of vinegar;
- body washing;
- Cleansing enemas (using clean water at room temperature)
- Wrapping the baby with a wet diaper.

2. Medicamentous - the use of antipyretic drugs. For infants, you can apply:
- Paracetamol (Efferalgan, Panadol) - can be used from the first month of life according to the instructions. Form release - suspensions, candles, syrups.
- Ibuprofen (Nurofen) - can be used with half a year, no more than three days, clearly following the instructions. Form release - suspensions, candles, syrups.
