The state of Schumacher for today. What is the condition of the rider Michael Schumacher?

The legendary Formula 1 racer, 46-year-old German Michael Schumacher, just over two years ago announced the completion of his international career. And only a year later with the sevenfold champion of the world, an accident happened, almost deprived him of his life.

Details of the tragedy

At the end of December 2013, the star of Formula 1 rested in the mountain resort of Meribel in the Alps, along with his son and friends. On December 29, Michael descended the ski course, but unexpectedly did not manage to speed and went for the flags to the unprepared slope. He tried to slow down, but did not have time. Stumbling over the stone, Schumacher flew at full speed into the ledge of the rock. The blow fell on the right side of the head. The clash was so strong that the helmet split into pieces, and the skis broke.

In a few minutes the driver was taken by a rescue helicopter to the local hospital, from where he was urgently transported to the Grenoble clinic. The state of Schumacher was critical, however, at first he was conscious. At the end of transportation, the legend of "Formula 1" became bad, so I had to resort to the help of an artificial respiration apparatus (ventilation of the lungs).

Upon arrival at the clinic, Michael was given two very complicated operations in a row, then the former sportsman was introduced into an artificial coma. At that time, the state of Schumacher deteriorated significantly, the doctors did not dare to make predictions. One thing could be said for sure: if it were not for a helmet, the German racer would have died on the spot. During the prosecution of the gendarmerie, Attorney Patrick Kensi confirmed that the tragedy was the result of an accident. Previously, there were rumors that Michael was crashed because he tried to save someone from falling down the slope. The words of the prosecutor was confirmed by the son of racing driver Mick. This concludes the investigation.

Six days after the accident, all relatives and friends of the world champion were in the clinic of Grenoble. At the end of January, the first stage of removing the victim from an artificial coma began. The entire cycle of reducing sedation should take about a month.

The long-awaited way out of a coma

February 24 from the manager Michael received information that the withdrawal from artificial sleep is delayed. The finding of the athlete in a coma was confirmed in the middle of March. Thus, the main question was in the air: "When Michael Schumacher wakes up?" His state of health for a long time remained unsatisfactory, but stable.

The first news about the release of the world champion from a coma appeared in mid-June. The driver's manager confirmed that Michael is in a satisfactory condition. June 16, he left the clinic and went to the rehabilitation center for a long course of physical recovery. In September of the same year, Michael Schumacher's condition returned to normal, and the doctors allowed him to return home. Nevertheless, the seven-time World Cup holder remained in a wheelchair. He could not talk and often forgot close people. Trauma of the brain could not disappear without a trace. However, together with the doctors and family Michael gradually managed to cope with the consequences of injury. Every month, a titled athlete underwent rehabilitation courses in Switzerland.

At home, a whole team of doctors watched Schumacher. On their salary and for the maintenance of special equipment a month, half a million euros were spent. Dr. François Payen noted that a full recovery would take up to 3 years.

First improvements

At the beginning of 2015, the state of Schumacher stabilized. Despite the ban on the rider's family medical staff to give any comments on the treatment of the legend of the "Formula-1", the media leaked information that Michael is rapidly recovering. Meanwhile, near the house of the 46-year-old German, a whole awning was deployed with a request to stop illegal photographing of the paparazzi. In January, some details of the rehabilitation of the athlete became known. One of the paparazzi managed to steal the medical history of the former pilot of the Mercedes. According to the information received, it became clear that 15 doctors are taking care of Schumacher led by Professor Francois Payen. At that time, Michael could only react to the actions of others. From the stolen history it is also known that the athlete still can not walk and even speak.

His relatives and friends continued to protect Michael from the press and annoying fans in every possible way. Information on what is currently the state of Schumacher, a long time has not been received. Numerous rumors remained unconfirmed.

Nevertheless, in the beginning of March, one of the doctors who looked after the sportsman, who wanted to remain anonymous, confessed that the recovery was delayed. Initially, doctors predicted more optimistic results, but in fact, the recovery is much slower and harder. For the last couple of months, Michael has learned to sit, move his hands in a restrained manner, remember the conversation, recognize friends. On the other hand, he still can not talk. The cause is paralysis of the facial muscles. According to the preliminary assessment of specialists, the athlete will be able to restore his health, however, this should not be expected in the near future.
