The Slavic Vedas. Svarog - the god of what?

Ancient Slavic culture today is half-forgotten. They wanted to purposely destroy it by forcibly introducing Christianity: for belief in the forces of nature and spirits that inhabit the world did not get along with church canons. However, the people's memory is tenacious. And now many descendants of Dazhbog's grandsons return to their sources, getting acquainted with the way their ancestors lived, what they believed in, what customs they followed.

Svarog - the god of what? Interested in this issue are people who are just beginning to learn the Slavic pantheon. By this name the eastern branch of our ancestors called the spirit of fire, family hearth, blacksmithing. He was a great warrior and a heavenly blacksmith with tremendous power. True, it is worth noting that there are very contradictory information about him. For example, another character in Slavic mythology - Dazhboga (the Sun) is called in the Ipatiev Chronicle the son of Svarog, that is, the god of Heaven. Others consider him a patron saint. Slavic god Svarog has other names. The Baltic tribes referred to him as Svarojic or Radgost and worshiped him in Retre-Radgost (Poland). Attributes of it were spears and a horse, and also a huge wild boar. In Slovakia, he was known as the Rarog. It has much in common with the Etruscan Velhans, the Finnish Ilmarinen, the Roman Volcano.

Who is Svarog, the God of what, becomes clear, if you translate his name from Sanskrit. The word "weld" means "light, sky", the suffix "og" turns it into a blacksmith. Therefore, the deity can be considered the creator of the sacred fire, its keeper and master. He also patronized the development of knowledge: like the Greek Hephaestus, this god gave ticks to people and taught them to melt iron and copper. Svarog established the first laws on earth, allowing men to have only one wife, and women - only one husband.

The sun god Svarog was a descendant of the chthonic creatures of Sitivrat and Krat, but in contrast to them he possessed light, fire and ether. We can assume that this deity replaced the more ancient demi gods (as Zeus replaced his father Uranus on Olympus) and gave life to a new generation. It creates with hands, without the help of words or magic, therefore creates a material world.

Svarog - the god of what? Since he patronized the blacksmiths, any workshop of these craftsmen, any bugle was his temple. In the present place of worship before the idol, fire should always burn, and metal objects should be present. For example, a hammer, a stick-crowbar, an anvil is suitable, for it was Svarog who introduced people into the Iron Age. For this humanity brought him demand in the form of cottage cheese and cheese cakes, symbols of heavenly breads. And the idol itself can have a completely unconventional appearance: an ordinary large stone with a sign of fire on it. The feast of the deity is celebrated on the fourteenth of November, the day of the Christian saints Kuzma and Demian.

Who is Svarog, the god of what, is unknown. We know that he did not enter the Pantheon, composed by Vladimir before the adoption of Christianity, but he is mentioned by ancient Russian written sources. Most likely, it was not formed by someone a character of mythology, but a collective image of the natural elements of fire and fire, tamed by man. And before such a force a person always felt trembling.
