The Slavic Vedas. Svarog - the god of what?
Svarog - the god of what? Interested in this issue are people who are just beginning to learn the Slavic pantheon. By this name the eastern branch of our ancestors called the spirit of fire, family hearth, blacksmithing. He was a great warrior and a heavenly blacksmith with tremendous power. True, it is worth noting that there are very contradictory information about him. For example, another character in Slavic mythology - Dazhboga (the Sun) is called in the Ipatiev Chronicle the son of Svarog, that is, the god of Heaven. Others consider him a patron saint. Slavic god Svarog has other names. The Baltic tribes referred to him as Svarojic or Radgost and worshiped him in Retre-Radgost (Poland). Attributes of it were spears and a horse, and also a huge wild boar. In Slovakia, he was known as the Rarog. It has much in common with the Etruscan Velhans, the Finnish Ilmarinen, the Roman Volcano.
The sun god Svarog was a descendant of the chthonic creatures of Sitivrat and Krat, but in contrast to them he possessed light, fire and ether. We can assume that this deity replaced the more ancient demi gods (as Zeus replaced his father Uranus on Olympus) and gave life to a new generation. It creates with hands, without the help of words or magic, therefore creates a material world.
Who is Svarog, the god of what, is unknown. We know that he did not enter the Pantheon, composed by Vladimir before the adoption of Christianity, but he is mentioned by ancient Russian written sources. Most likely, it was not formed by someone a character of mythology, but a collective image of the natural elements of fire and fire, tamed by man. And before such a force a person always felt trembling.
