The monster of the world. Mysterious places of the planet where monsters live

Sometimes it seems that the modern person already does not frighten anything. We almost calmly watch even the most bloodthirsty horror films, we read out mystical novels, and in computer games, various monsters of the world are involved, both real and imaginary. All this does not surprise anyone. Even teenagers and young children treat all these creatures with mild irony and skepticism.

And what will you say to someone who claims that monsters and monsters meet in our today's world? Smile? Shake your finger at the temple? Will you start proving the opposite? Do not hurry. Why? The thing is that from time to time the unseen creatures are still people now.

For example, digging into the memory, you probably remember that one of your relatives, friends or acquaintances once in different circumstances met a terrible monster or some inexplicable creature. True?

And what if it's not just the fruit of an unhealthy imagination or the consequence of a sleepless night? Suddenly, mythological ancient Greek monsters actually existed and continue to dwell somewhere in our world? To tell the truth from such thoughts, even the bravest of us are covered with shivers and begin to listen to the surrounding rustles and sounds.

All this will be discussed in this article. However, in addition to the story of where the monsters live, we will touch on other, no less interesting, topics. For example, we will dwell on the bylinas and beliefs in more detail, and also introduce readers to modern beliefs and hypotheses.

Section 1. Mythical monsters from fairy tales and legends

Each spiritual culture and religion has its own myths and parables, and they are, as a rule, composed not only of good and love, but also of terrible and disgusting beings. Let's not be unfounded and give some of the most characteristic examples.

So in the Jewish folklore there lives a certain dibbuki, the spirit of the deceased sinful person, who can live in living people who have committed a serious misconduct and torture them. The only way to get rid of the dibbuka is a very qualified rabbi.

Islamic culture, in turn, as a mythical evil creature, offers jinn - an evil winged people, created from smoke and fire, living in parallel reality and serving the devil. By the way, according to the local religion, the devil was also once a genie under the name of Iblis.

In the religion of the western states, there are rakshasas, that is, horrible demons, who enter into the bodies of living people and manipulate them, forcing the victim to do all kinds of abominations.

Agree, these mythical monsters instill fear, even if you just read their description, and really to meet with them in fact exactly would not want to.

Section 2. What are people afraid today?

Nowadays, people also believe in different otherworldly beings. For example, in Malay (Indonesian) folklore there is a certain Pontianak, a vampire woman with long hair. What does this terrible creature do? It attacks pregnant women and eats all their insides.

Russian monsters also do not lag behind in their bloodthirstiness and unpredictability. So, in Slavs, the evil spirit is represented in the form of water, the embodiment of a dangerous and negative element of water. Invisibly sneaking, he drags his victim to the bottom, and then preserves the souls of people in special vessels.

Let's try to imagine a monster of the seas. In this case, it is impossible not to mention one of the countries of South America. Probably, many have already heard that in Brazilian folklore there is an encantado, a snake or a river dolphin, which turns into a man, loves sex and has a musical ear. He steals the thoughts and desires of people, after which a person loses his mind and eventually dies.

Another mythical creature that belongs to the category "Monsters of the world" is a goblin. He has a human form - very tall, shaggy with strong hands and glowing eyes. Lives in the forest, as a rule, in a dense and inaccessible. Leshie ride on trees, constantly fooling around, but at the sight of a person they clap their hands and laugh. By the way, they drag out women to themselves.

Section 3. The monster Lochness. Scotland

The lake with the same name and depth of 230 m is the largest reservoir of water in the UK. It is believed that this reservoir, which, by the way, is the second largest in Scotland, was formed long ago, even in the last ice age in Europe.

There are rumors that a mysterious animal lives in the lake, the first time about which it was mentioned in writing back in 565. However, the Scots had from old times mentioned water monsters in their folklore, calling them the "Kelpy" collection name.

The modern Loch Ness monster is called Nessie, and its history began almost 100 years ago. In 1933, one married couple, resting nearby, saw firsthand something unusual, which she reported to the special service. However, despite the testimony of 3,000 witnesses claiming to have seen the monster, scientists still unravel this mystery.

To date, many locals agree that in the lake there is a creature two meters wide and moving at a speed of 10 miles per hour. Modern eyewitnesses claim that Nessie is like a giant snail with a very long neck.

Section 4. Monsters from the Valley of Headless

The secret of the so-called Headless Valley is that no matter whoever goes to this area and no matter how armed he is, it's still worth while to say goodbye to him. Why? The thing is that no one has come back from there yet.

The phenomenon of disappearance of people is still unsolved. Whether all monsters of the world are gathered there, or people are lost due to some other circumstances, is for certain unknown.

Sometimes on the scene only human heads were found, and the Indians living in that locality say that it's all done by a snowman living in the valley. Eyewitnesses say that they saw in the valley a creature resembling a giant shaggy man.

Perhaps the most fantastic version of the secret of the Valley of the Headless is that there is an entrance to a parallel world in this place.

Section 5. Who is the Yeti and how dangerous is he?

In 1921 on Mount Everest, whose height is more than 6 km, a trace was found on the snow left by a bare foot of enormous size. He was discovered by an expedition under the command of Colonel Howard-Berry, a very famous and respected climber. Then the team reported that the imprint belongs to the snowman.

In the past, the places of residence of Yeti were the mountains of Tibet and the Himalayas. Now scientists believe that snow people can live in the Pamirs, Central Africa, in the lower reaches of the Ob, in some areas of Chukotka and Yakutia, and in the 70s of the 20th century, Yeti were also met in America, as evidenced by numerous documentary evidence.

What they can be dangerous for a modern person, to this day remains a mystery. There were cases of kidnapping food, sports equipment, but the people themselves of these creatures seem to be of little interest, so it is not worth worrying about them, much less panicking.

Section 6. The monster of the seas. Sea serpent: myth or reality?

Many ancient myths and legends tell of sea monsters and a large sea snake. In the existence of such a monster at one time believed and sailors, and scientists.

All opinions agreed on one thing, that at least there are at least two species of large marine inhabitants unknown to science . Scientists suggest that the role of the sea monster is a giant eel or an unknown form of cryptozoology.

In 1964, sea travelers crossing the Australian bay of Stonehenv on the yacht saw a giant black tadpole about 2 meters deep, about 25 meters long.

The monster had a huge snake head with a width and height of about 1.2 m, a thin flexible body about 60 cm in diameter and 20 m in length and a whip-like tail.

Section 7. Shark megalodon. Does it exist now?

In principle, according to several documents that have survived to this day, such a fish, which could easily be classified as the "Monster of the World", existed in antiquity and resembled a large white shark.

Megalodone was supposedly about 25 meters long, and it is this size that turns it into the largest predator that ever existed on the planet.

Far from one fact proves the existence of megallodon in our time. For example, in 1918, when the catchers of sea crayfish were working at great depths, they saw a giant shark with a length of 92 m. Most likely, it was this fish.

Modern scientists are also in no hurry to deny this assumption. They argue that such animals could easily have survived in unexplored ocean depths to this day.

Section 8. Do you believe in ghosts?

Myths about spirits existed since pagan times. Christian faith also prevails in spirits, telling about the existence of special beings, for example, angels who control the elements, and the so-called "unclean", which include goblin, house, water, etc.

So it is that good and evil spirits constantly interact with a person. Christianity distinguishes even some companions of man: a kind guardian angel and evil demon-tempter.

A ghost, in turn, is considered an anomalous phenomenon, a vision, a ghost, a spirit, something invisible and intangible. These substances appear, as a rule, at night in low-lying places. A common opinion about the nature of the appearance of ghosts is not, and the ghosts themselves are often radically different from each other.

Section 9. The giant cephalopods

From the scientific point of view, cephalopods are beings without a spine, the body of which is shaped like a sack. They have a small head with a clearly defined physiognomy and one leg, which is a tentacle with suckers. Impressive appearance, right? By the way, not everyone knows that these creatures have a sufficiently developed and highly organized brain and live at sea depths from 300 to 3000 m.

Very often around the world on the shores of the oceans it throws out the bodies of dead cephalopods. The longest ejected cephalopod was more than 18 m long and weighed 1 ton.

Scientists exploring the depths have seen these animals longer than 30 m. And in general it is believed that such monsters of the world can be longer than 50 m.

Section 10. Riddles of the bottomless lakes

In the Solnechnogorsk district of the Moscow region there is a lake called Besdonnoe. Local residents constantly tell stories about the connection of the lake with the ocean and about the fragments of drowned ships thrown on its sandy beaches.

This pond is considered a true phenomenon of nature, with its small size, only 30 m in diameter, it has an immeasurable depth.

In the same area is another strange object - Lake Krugloe, which was formed more than half a million years ago at the site of the fall of a large meteorite. The pond has a diameter of about 100 m, but nobody knows the size of its depth. There are almost no fish in it, and on the shores there is no living creature. In the summer in the middle of the lake there is a large cycle resembling a large whirlpool on the river, and in winter, freezing, the cycle forms a bizarre pattern on the ice. Not so long ago, local residents began to observe the following picture: on a clear day, some creatures crawled on the beach to bask in the sun, some creatures that by description resemble either a huge snail or a lizard.

Section 11. Believers of Buryatia

Another lake of unknown depth is Sobolkho, in Buryatia. In the area of the lake, people and animals are constantly disappearing. Very interesting is that the missing animals were later found in completely different lakes. Scientists suggest that the reservoir is connected to other underground channels, amateur divers in 1995 confirmed the existence of karst caves and tunnels in the lake, but local residents believe that it is unlikely to do without terrible monsters.
