The main actors of the "Three Musketeers", their photos and interesting facts from life

For more than three decades TV viewers have enjoyed the brilliant performance of actors in the famous film "D'Artagnan and Three Musketeers", directed by director Jungvald-Khilkevich. He still looks at one breath, and the songs of Maxim Dunayevsky, included in the picture, have long become almost folk songs. Well, the actors of the "Three Musketeers" are still loved and adored by the viewer throughout the country.

First there was a play

At the same time, not everyone knows how many behind-the-scenes excesses and vicissitudes happened during the shooting of the adventures of the Musketeers. The Russian version of the novel appeared in theatrical production thanks to the efforts of the director Alexander Tovstonogov, the composer Maxim Dunaevsky and the playwright Mark Rozovsky. Once the performance was watched by one of the Goskino officials and gave a "green light" for the musketeers to hit the blue screens.

Few people know that the famous movie almost all the year spent on the shelf, and all because the director, scriptwriter and author of the lyrics had differences that could be settled only through the court.

The director was in shock

George Jungvald-Khilkevich agreed to direct the masterpiece of the film, which almost in every detail knew the content of the novel of the French writer.

The actors of the "Three Musketeers" were selected by them personally. The director, almost without hesitation, invited the famous actor Oleg Tabakov to play King Louis. There was no doubt at Jungvald-Khilkevich and concerning a nominee for the role of Anne of Austria - in it the actress Alisa Freindlich reincarnated virtuously. This actor's pair the director considered the key to the success of the future adventure epic about the Musketeers. We had to do some work for Maxim Dunaevsky: he rewrote the music, but Ryashentsev's texts remained unchanged. We decided to shoot the picture at the Odessa film studio. The main actors of the "Three Musketeers" rehearsed in Lviv, Odessa, Khotyn Fortress, Svirzhsky Castle, Carmelite Monastery in Bethune.

Casting

So, some actors of the "Three Musketeers" were unconditionally approved by the director, but there was a difficult task - to pick up the rest. Although today it is difficult to imagine who, except for Mikhail Boyarsky, could play such a bright and talented D'Artagnan.

However, the tests conducted in 1977 could radically change the composition of the actors of the film "The Three Musketeers". The actors who performed the key roles could be different. Candidates Elena Solovey, Eugenia Simonova, Alexander Abdulov, Vasily Livanov, Igor Kostolevsky were considered as candidates. The list is somewhat unusual, but it was in such a variation that a Soviet film masterpiece could be created.

Mikhail Boyarsky

Boyarsky intended a different image - the Earl of Rochefort. But fate has prepared for him another fate. Once he did not have time to rehearse. In the turmoil and rush, the actor literally flew in like a torpedo on the set, and all of this, of course, was seen by the director.

Then Jungvald-Khilkevich was dawned: here he is a real Gascon! Originally, this role was predicted by another, no less talented actor - Alexander Abdulov, who was to organically enter the film "Three Musketeers", the actors to which were selected in the most careful manner. But the musical material proved to be beyond its power, and the role of d'Artagnan was entrusted to the one to whom they entrusted.

Noteworthy is the fact that Mikhail Boyarsky was offered to reincarnate as Aramis and Athos, but fate decreed differently.

Igor Starygin

Actor Igor Starygin got on shooting an adventure film thanks to the patronage of Mikhail Boyarsky, who liked the work of "Athos" in the well-known film "We Live to Monday."

And, in fairness, it's worth noting: Starygin did not disappoint Jungvald-Khilkevich, and he approved him for the role of one of the musketeers.

Veniamin Smekhov

Why did such a stunning success film "D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers"? The actors in it played just fine, their mastery of reincarnation was inimitable. This is one of the main reasons for the popularity of Soviet movie criticism. The image of the brave Athos director invited the actor Veniamin Smekhov. But initially it was intended for another talented actor - Vasily Livanov. He brilliantly passed screen tests, but at the most crucial moment he could not come to the shooting. The hitch threatened a real catastrophe. Jungvald-Khilkevich began actively searching for the new Athos, and luck smiled at him: at the Taganka Theater he watched the graceful play of Veniamin Smekhov as Woland and suggested that he be reincarnated as a musketeer. As a result, the problem was solved.

Valentin Smernitsky

Probably among the older people there are those who would not watch the adventure film "D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers". Actors worked with maximum impact, which is why the film became a cult for the domestic audience. As for the image of Porthos, the director had little doubt that Valentin Smirnitsky would genius play it. And here Jungvald-Khilkevich falls into the "top ten". Smirnitsky - a spitting musketeer!

Alexander Trofimov

The role of the intriguer Richelieu was vividly and expressively played by the actor Alexander Trofimov. Again, it was initially assumed that Michael Kozakov would act on the stage instead . One way or another, but the work was also the last: he voiced the cardinal, since Trofimov was a stutterer from birth, and Jungvald-Khilkevich could not entrust him with such a responsible mission. Noteworthy is the fact that in the film the actor is only 27 years old, but the hero of Richelieu is already 40.

Margarita Terekhova

Today, not many know what budget was allocated for the filming of the film "D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers." Actors, of course, worthy of a solid fee for the work done.

Only here money for a picture have allocated a little. Nevertheless, the film turned out to be excellent! The quality of filming is at a high professional level. One of the key images - Milady Winter - was phenomenally and genuinely realized by the actress Margarita Terekhova. And, again, this role was meant for another - Elena Solovey. However, she was "in position", and the shooting process did not stop thanks to Terekhova. However, instead of the Nightingale, Goskino officials wanted to promote "their" protégé - actress Svetlana Penkin. But the director categorically refused to shoot it. And, in the end, the officials gave way to the pressure of Jungvald-Khilkevich and approved the candidacy of Margarita. Actors of the movie "Three Musketeers" were happy to work with Terekhova on one set.

Irina Alferova

Constance Bonacieux was supposed to play Evgeni Simonov. However, the director was forced to approve Irina Alferov, otherwise Mikhail Boyarsky's participation in the film would be in doubt. Sam Yungvald-Khilkevich was not enthusiastic about the work of Irina. Today we can say with confidence that the Soviet tape about the musketeers is better than its foreign counterparts, and not least thanks to the charming Alferova.

Many film critics believe that the film "D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers," whose actors and roles were juxtaposed very, very scrupulously, deserves the highest praise.

Boris Klyuyev

Notorious actor Boris Klyuyev brilliantly played Count Rochefort. It was assumed that this character will not fence on stage, so Klyuev did not teach the basics of this art. However, in one scene, the actor lost his composure and took out his sword, subsequently wounding Mikhail Boyarsky (almost hitting the cerebral cortex). But everything ended for the "Gascon" safely. The director of stunts, Nikolai Vashchilin, also said that the events developed in a different scenario, and Boyarsky was stabbed not by Klyuev, but by Vladimir Balon, who himself staged this episode, while Vashchilin was absent. Boris insists that it was he who inadvertently injured Boyarsky, since he appeared on the set "under the fly."

Staging tricks

The film "Dartanyan and the Three Musketeers", whose actors, no doubt, did their work qualitatively, turned out to be spectacular and thanks to professionally stunned performances, and Nikolai Vashchilin distinguished himself here. Neither Boyarsky, Smekhov, Starygin, Smirnitsky, nor other actors had the right to perform the tricks themselves. The actors of the film "D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers" were to strictly observe the safety rules on the set. Jumping from a height, flying in the air, should have been carried out specially trained people for this.

Since the film was low-budget, some of the requisites were made from improvised materials. In particular, the director himself with his own hand made "diamond pendants for the queen" in his hotel room.

Conclusion

The film "D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers" has long become a classic of Soviet cinema. Unfortunately, the productions of the 90s of the last century about the adventures of the Musketeers twenty and thirty years later did not have such success as the first film about D'Artagnan and his friends. In Ukrainian Lviv there is even a special route "Lviv Musketeersky", where you can wander around the places of "fighting glory" of the characters of the film.
