"Service in the army is an honorable duty of every Soviet citizen." This slogan, so popular still some thirty years ago, is now increasingly losing its relevance. And we are not even talking about the fact that there is no longer any Soviet power. The fact is that an increasing number of young people are trying to avoid recruitment. "Cutting off" from the army is considered correct, and those who go to serve, for some reason, many "slobbers" are called losers.

Although it is possible to call a loser, for example, a paratrooper, conquering the sky, or an officer of the navy, plowing the oceans? Hardly. But there is a special category of military, which is not-no, and even those who did everything possible to enrage from the service will envy. Clothes with a needle, excellent bearing, a beautiful physical shape, a very special atmosphere. The company of the guard of honor has a special majestic beauty. Service there is an indicator of the chosenness, one might say, of perfection. Only the best ones go there.

A bit of history

The events in which guardsmen of the guard of honor took part were circulated under Peter the Great. If we talk about the time close to us, the Guard of Honor as such appeared in 1944 as an integral part of the Special Purpose Division. Dzerzhinsky NKVD of the USSR. And the first significant task was the meeting of Winston Churchill.

In 1956, the first separate company of honor guard was formed and subordinated to the military commandant's office of Moscow. In 1979, the 154th Independent Commandant Regiment, now better known as the Preobrazhensky Regiment, was formed, a component of which was the company of soldiers belonging to the elite of the military.

In 1960, for military units of this class, a special uniform for the Navy was created throughout the country: three types for the Navy, land and air forces. By that time, its own guard of honor was not only in the garrison of Moscow, but also in Volgograd, Kiev, Minsk, Odessa, Leningrad, Tbilisi, Sverdlovsk, Rostov-on-Don, Tashkent, Lviv, Kuibyshev and several other cities of the Soviet Union. It is worth noting that for this military unit there was an orchestra.

Who will fall into the elite military unit?

For whom can the company serve as a duty station of the guard of honor? For children with excellent health, strong, hardy, and not only physically, but also psychologically. Because sustaining hours of daily training is very difficult. But sometimes, to prepare a particular number, to achieve an ideal synchronization of movements, take weeks and even months, perhaps. The company of honor guard takes part in the meetings of foreign delegations, in the opening of monuments and memorials, laying wreaths to the graves of soldiers and many others. Where can I see a company soldier?

The number of events in which the military has to participate in the years of service is hundreds. And sometimes, depending on how the soldiers show themselves, it depends on how the country looks in the eyes of foreign countries. For example, a company of the guard of honor in Moscow in 1980 took part in the opening of the Olympic Games. The soldiers carried an Olympic flag. In addition, a separate company of the 154th Regiment in 1981 met representatives of the Powers participating in the Warsaw Pact; In 1985 participated in the World Festival of Youth and Students. In 1987 she took part in the celebration of the 175th anniversary of the Battle of Borodino and in the Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR.

Of course, this military unit is almost unique, but it is still far from the only one of its kind. For example, the residents of the northern capital have great respect for the 165th OSH PC. Its history is a little shorter than the history of the company of the Preobrazhensky regiment. Formed in 1961, an out-of-order company of the guard of honor. St. Petersburg was still called Leningrad. But even now it is the only military unit in the whole region that provides meetings and send-offs of military and state delegations taking part in official events. And not only in the Leningrad region, but throughout the North-West region. And with the fact that St. Petersburg is the second most important city in our country, it is quite natural that the number of such events increases every year. Thus, a separate rifle company of the PC met the top officials of such countries as Great Britain, Netherlands, USA, Italy, Belarus, Greece, Uzbekistan, Denmark, Germany, Norway. Naturally, events such as the celebration of the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg and the Day of Military Glory were not without its participation. Not once the company changed the place of its deployment. Now it is based in the Cadet missile and artillery corps (the former Leningrad Artillery School) and is located at: Moscow Avenue, 17.

Interesting Facts

During the opening of the 1980 Olympic Games, foreign guests did not even realize that the Olympic flag was carried by soldiers of the guard of honor. They were in a sporty uniform.

There was a time when in the 154th OKP from all over the country they were typing twins, and 8 pairs of twins were serving at once.

One day, the Chinese defense minister broke the protocol during an official visit, shaking hands with the commanding officer of the guard of honor. To this extent he liked the performance of the company.

The main guard post in the Russian Federation is the post at the grave of an unknown soldier in the Alexander Garden. It was formed to guard the Lenin Mausoleum in 1924. And in 1974, the guard sent the first sentries and their successors at the same time.
