The drug "Ultrakain." Instructions for use
The drug "Ultrakain" refers to the local anesthetics. The active substance is articaine hydrochloride. The drug blocks sodium channels in the neuron membrane, which causes a decrease in impulses along nerve fibers. This is the cause of the local anesthetic effect of "Ultrakain." As a result of the activity of the drug, a reversible loss of sensitivity arises, by reducing or eliminating the conductivity of sensory pulses at the injection site or directly at the site of the injection. Due to the ability to reduce permeability in the membranes of nerve cells, the drug has a membrane-stabilizing effect. The active substance passes the placental barrier, practically not found in milk.
The drug is used for conductive and infiltration anesthesia in operations in dentistry. In particular, the medication is effective with simple removal of several or one tooth, treatment of carious cavities, grinding teeth before prosthetics.
The remedy "Ultrakain." Instructions for use
Dosage for adults is 4-6 mg / kg. The administration is not more than 400 mg. For the implementation of infiltration anesthesia , as a rule, 1.7 ml (in the absence of inflammation) are injected into two adjacent or one tooth. To freeze the alveolar nerve, approximately 1-1.7 ml is required. Before injection, an aspiration test should be performed to avoid intravascular (unintentional) administration of the drug.
